8-Bit Mega Man Star Force Fan Game “Project R.R.” Returns

Several years ago, I reported on a fan game by Tarbo-san that was an 8-bit version of Mega Man Star Force, aka Ryuusei no Rockman. The video has since been taken down, but it appears that the project may be back in business under the name of “Project R.R. Wave Battle Selection.”

ShaolinTurtle has sent along a tip to the following video from Megacocorock’s YouTube channel, noting that it’s for an old fan project that has been revived. Check it out:

Without the original video, I’m not 100 percent positive it’s the same, but it seems to add up as such. Among the features are Battle Cards that are based on characters from across the entire Mega Man franchise, as well as the expected 8-bit “demake” of the original soundtrack.

ShaolinTurtle also adds that “the main menu even looks to be based on the Mega Man Star Force TV game Takara and Capcom released exclusively in Japan.” I’m not familiar with that one, but that’s a cool touch!

For those wondering, Tarbo-san hasn’t been idle since dropping this project years ago. Remember the 8-bit versions of Rockman Xover and Mega Man Legends 3? Those were him, too!

It’s been a while since we last saw a new Mega Man game, of course, and even longer since Mega Man Star Force had a new release. Does this have you stoked for more?
