While the majority of Capcom's Mega Man-based focus has been on the recently-released PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam versions of Mega Man Legacy Collection, fans still have their questions -- about the announced Nintendo 3DS version, in particular. While the company has kept largely mum about that release shy of a vague release window of "early next year," we have learned something new about the handheld version through Capcom Unity -- and how you can be a part of it!
First, it turns out that the Mega Man amiibo will be compatible with the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. By using it, players will be able to access up to ten additional challenges in the game's Challenge Mode. What's more, these challenges will be designed by you! (Unless yours isn't chosen; maybe you will be the one to submit a winner instead?)
Grega Man on Capcom Unity explains how this all pans out:
How to Submit:
-This contest is open to residents of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, North America, Central America and South America aged 18 or over. Each person may submit once, so make your submission count!
-Design your own Mega Man challenge! Your challenge may include up to ten “sections.” These sections may span any of the six games—they can all be from one game, or you can mix up sections from various games. Your challenge may of course include fewer than ten sections, but should include at least five.
-Please use this template for your submission. Each “section” of your challenge must include two timestamped YouTube links: one to indicate the start point, and one to indicate the end point. There are countless YouTube videos showing the games in action, but for your convenience, here are some examples:
Please be sure to also indicate if Mega Man has access to all weapons (from the corresponding game), or just his trusty buster.
-Once you have your filled-out template, email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use “MMLC CHALLENGE COMPETITION” as your email’s subject line.
Submission period for this contest is from now until Friday, September 25th at 9:00am PT.
Once that's done, a panel of Capcom staff will choose ten winners based on creativity and how well the challenge meshes with what's already in the game. "So try to be creative and think of challenges that have some kind of running theme or motif."
The ten winners will have their challenges used in the game!
