Worlds Unite Covers and Starting Issue Revealed

After months of teasing, Archie has laid it all right out for us with regards to the upcoming second Mega Man/Sonic the Hedgehog crossover, “Worlds Unite.” Or at least, where it all begins, which is in May’s Sonic Universe #76.

Fortunately, where it begins is also rather telling, as Archie has released images of the issue’s two covers to coincide with their two Twitter and Facebook announcements:

There’s lots to take in here, though we urge you to remember that just as with video games, comic book covers do not always reflect the contents inside (remember Zero’s Type 2 body on the covers of those earlier Mega Man comic issues? Inside was Type 1 all the way).

That said, if the covers are true to what’s inside, there’s a lot to take in here. On the first cover, we see a lot of love for the X series from Patrick “Spaz” Spaziante, as its eponymous star is not only joined by Zero, but series stalwarts Sigma, Vile, and even Axl! The original Blue Bomber is there, too, of course, as are Sonic and Dr. Eggman, who also have Zor and Zavok from Sonic Lost World‘s Deadly Six at their side.

Fans of either comic world have much to appreciate in Rafa Knight’s second cover, which features not only a bevy of characters from the Mega Man and Sonic games, but the comic versions’ Princess Sally and Quake Woman as well.

One final thing to note is that with the inclusion of Sonic Boom in the mix, the 12-issue story arc may not take quite so long to tell this time, assuming it is indeed spread across the monthly Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, and the recently-added Sonic Boom titles.
