Mega Man and Mega Man 3 Now Free to Play on Your Browser!

We’ve just learned that Mega Man and Mega Man 3 are now both available to play for free, right from the comfort of your own home computer via your browser. And by “free to play,” we’re not talking about the more negative mobile connotation of the term– we mean you start it up and you play it without paying anything, completely legitimately!

Of course, you’ve probably guessed by now that there’s a catch, and there most certainly is: These are the DOS games by Hi-Tech Expressions, two of the worst games to ever have the Mega Man name attached to them. They’ve available to play through the Internet Archive’s ever-growing list of playable DOS games, which is probably the only way you’re going to want to attempt this dreck.

That is, assuming you can even get them to run– so far, no luck on my end. But if you can, then… hooray? At least they’re there, preserved now as a warning for future generations… unless Dr. Cain ignores those warnings, too, and mass-produces a DOS Mega Man X, in which case we’re all done for.

If you’re not familiar with these two, here’s a little bit of footage from the first one:

I think that Mega Man 3 might have been considered marginally better, if at all.

If you’re still not deterred, then you can check out Mega Man here, while Mega Man 3: The Robots are Revolting can be found here.

Everyone, now thank HJ for bringing this to my attention and dooming us all.
