Mega Man is one of Nintendo’s Favorite Gaming Friends in eShop Special

Those who follow the week-to-week happenings in the Nintendo eShop know that for one week starting today, Thursday, November 14th, a variety of The Legend of Zelda titles featured on both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are being marked down. As it turns out, this is part of a larger ongoing deal, and a curious one at that.

Over the next month, Nintendo is featuring a different star as one of “Your Favorite Gaming Friends”. This includes Mario from November 28th to December 5th, and Donkey Kong from December 5th to December 12th. But before those two have a go, Link is followed by one– and only one– character who is distinctly not from Nintendo.

As we’re talking about it here, we can only mean Mega Man, of course. On the Special Offers page, Mega Man is shown to be the subject of the sale from November 21st to 28th. Which titles will be marked down is as-yet unknown, but as the Blue Bomber only has a handful which are currently available in the North American eShops for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, there’s a decent chance all will benefit from the temporary cut.

For those who can’t see it, the NES titles The Legend of Zelda and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link are cut from $4.99 to $3.49 on both systems, while the Nintendo 3DS-exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX is dropped from $5.99 to $3.99. We would imagine that the NES Mega Man games are likely to follow suit, at the very least.

The only remaining question we have is whether or not any of the previously-announced and eagerly-anticipated Game Boy Mega Man titles will be released to coincide with the special. There was nothing new for Link, but at the same time, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds comes out next week, while Mega Man has no such new release coming– at least, nothing announced, and certainly not by next week.
