Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Revealed, Mega Man Given the Cold Shoulder

As many of you have no doubt heard by now, Capcom has made its announcements for the San Diego Comic-Con. Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, Dead Rising 2 Off The Record, Asura’s Wrath, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom were the orders of the day, with nary a Blue Bomber title in sight.

As for that last one, Capcom revealed that the update of the popular fighting game would arrive in November for $39.99 and include 12 new characters, eight new stages, and “a refined fighting system.” For the characters, only four have been revealed thus far: Ghost Rider and Hawkeye from Marvel, and Strider and Firebrand for Capcom.

MMN reader KoKuTanLuFi did pass along a link to this NeoGAF post, which purports to have a leaked list of the rest of the roster, with some convincing character art to back it up. And if you are surprised that there are no new Mega Man characters there at all, then leave while we play this resubbed clip from Downfall.

…actually, that will probably come later. For now, if the leaks are true, at least a couple of other requested characters made it in.

Still, this news doesn’t mean there is nothing new for Mega Man in the game, though what we do know is ominous. As you can see above, some of the screens reveal a new stage from Mega Man Legends… well, sort of. It actually appears to simply be the same Kattelox stage from Marvel vs. Capcom 3, only now covered in snow. Is this the Winter of our discontent?

You can find a bunch of videos with the four officially-revealed characters at Capcom Unity, plus a gallery with more screens from the game, including several set against the Mega Man Legends backdrop.
