Due to Popular Demand, MMN is Back!

Alright, everyone, you win. Since apparently there are some people who still like Mega Man, despite what Capcom has (or hasn’t) been doing with it lately, we’ve decided to revert things back to the way they were.

In all seriousness, though, I was actually surprised at how much support there was for Mario… or were you guys just fooling, too?

Anyway, I had this in mind ever since last year’s “return” to Atomic Fire, and thought perhaps this would be a little more lighthearted, a little more obvious, and a lot less cruel. But given some peoples’ reactions… well, one out of three is okay, I guess. I figured it might be just believable enough, since I don’t think it’s any secret that I’m a Mario fan (and Nintendo in general) as well as Mega Man. Perhaps too believable?

Nonetheless, it was fun to put into motion. You can find the banner we used at the bottom of this post, archived for posterity. And I do hope you all got to check out The Mega Man Universe wiki as I hinted/urged– we had a lot of fun switching that over to Mario, too, so it would be a shame if anyone missed entries such as MegaMario Battle Network, where Captain Lou and his NetNavi MegaMario must battle viruses and cyber-terrorism, or Mega Mario X, in which “Bowser, the former leader of the 8-bit Hunters, goes 8-bit and leads the Hunters in a war against the humans, Mega Mario X and Geno must take up the fight and stop his reign of terror.”

Familiar concepts took on entirely new meanings, too– such as Mario and Peach being brother and sister. Except when they’re boyfriend and girlfriend. Crazy, huh?

My only regret is that some ideas came a little too late to implement– I had hoped to put hastily-added Mario mustaches on a number of major characters’ art in their profiles.

And last, but not least, a big thanks to Snow at the Capcom*Unity, who helped to spread the word of our new direction. It’s too bad GoNintendo didn’t join in as well. Perhaps RMC holds a higher place in his heart for the Blue Bomber than for Mario?

As of this writing, a little fine-tuning is going on to get everything back to normal, but it should be good by tomorrow– including the forums, which we opted to leave untouched.

Happy April Fool’s, everyone!
