Mega Man Universe Site Updated, Reveals Mega Man 2 Cast

Capcom of Japan has updated their Mega Man Universe homepage with some artwork and screenshots, as well as a compilation of the tree trailers we got yesterday. The new red planet serves as an “urgent notice” section. The video has an additional bit at the end, and Inafune states that many more playable characters will come along, and asks which the viewer is looking towards using.

The site also revealed most if not all the Robot Masters from Mega Man 2, and others.

Mega Man Universe Gameplay Trailer

Well, immediately following my speculation post, here is our first look at Mega Man Universe’s gameplay! Which… appears to be some kind of polygonal Mega Man 2. No sign of any Kinect and Move usage, but the visual style is a little… interesting. Still, this only seems like just a taste of what to really expect.

Hit the jump for more trailers.

Speculation Train: MMU a Kinect/Move Game?

Been a long time since I did one of this. We are at the eve of PAX, and many things we’ve wondered about Capcom’s Mega Man Universe will be answered in a scant 24 hours. However, a small realization struck me yesterday, and Boss Man insisted I write about it. So then, here we go. What if Mega Man Universe is a game meant to utilize Microsoft’s Kinect and Sony’s Move? What kind of game would that be? How would one even reach such an idea?

Capcom Announces “Rockman Kai Arrange Shitemita” Soundtrack (Updated)

A new product listing has appeared on e-Capcom for the Rockman soundtrack “Rockman Kai: Arrange Shitemita!!” (roughly Rockman Modified: Let’s Arrange It!!). The album will release various Rockman tracks arranged by different musicians, including Team Nekocan of Airman ga Taosenai fame. In fact, Airman ga Taosenai will be a bonus track on the disc. Here is the complete track list:

01. Blow Through Tornado by Team Nekocan (Rockman 9 Tornadoman)
02. Snake dance by Shachou  (Rockman 3 Snakeman)
03. DIVING DAY by Yamadan (Rockman 4 Diveman)
04. RELOADED by Soy-SOUTH (Rockman 5 Napalmman)
05. Upside Down Phenomenology by Deadball P (Rockman 5 Gravityman)
06. Imitation Castle ~To The Castle of Lies~ by kanipan (Rockman 5 Darkman)
07. Scissor Head by Sound CYCLONE (Rockman 1 Cutman)
08. Thermal Power by IOSYS (Rockman 6 Flameman)
09. Knightmare night by Princess Tissue &  Yutaka Sekine (Rockman 6 Knightman)
10. I’m BUBBLEMAN by Hyadain (Rockman 2 Bubbleman)
11.  Power of the Unknown ~Eight Power of Rock!~ by JUNCA (Rockman 2 opening and staff roll)

Additionally, the album will feature Team Nekocan’s three Rockman-releated singles: Can’t Beat Airman, These Guys Are Supposed to Help? and Won’t Sleep ‘Til Cleared! The album will ALSO come with a DVD with movies for the three Team Nekocan bonus tracks, as well as a medley of the main tracks. This amazing album will release on October 20th for ¥3,150 with tax (roughly $37 US). A pretty interesting selection for a new album!

UPDATE: After a little snooping around, I found a preview reel for the soundtrack has been put up (for a week, oddly enough). You can take a listen in the video here, although it is a 20 minute long demo. And while I haven’t listened to it all yet, it appears most if not all the tracks will contain singing. I have a feeling that might be a bit of a turn-off for some, but eh, don’t knock it ’til you give it a listen.

Get Prepped for Mega Man Universe at PAX

Capcom Unity has the lowdown for what to expect at PAX this weekend, if you happen to be in attendance. Among those items, new trailers and game levels for Mega Man Universe will be exhibited, so it sounds like we’re going to finally see what the game looks like (unless it actually is a claymation style game in a kid’s bedroom). Furthermore, the Capcom Unity crew will be giving out special Mega Man Universe headbands every hour.

I can’t tell if “game levels” means the title will actually be playable or not, but TMMN staffers Mainfinger and Gelgameth will be at the event to cover whatever Mega Man goodness comes. Be sure to say hello to them if you notice them. And feel free to send your own impressions to us as well! I’d go myself but legal restrictions prevent me from entering the state of Washington.

PAX starts this Friday, so coverage is coming soon!

Nintendo Power Readers Rate Their Favorite Mega Man

Mega Man showed up a bit in this latest issue of Nintendo Power. No, it wasn’t Mega Man 11 (this time). However, in a reader poll, fans were surveyed of their favorite Mega Man series, and this is how the results stack up:

1. Mega Man (58%)
2. Mega Man Zero (13%)
3. Mega Man X (12%)
4. Mega Man Battle Network (7%)
5. Mega Man Legends (4%)
6. Mega Man Star Force (4%)
7. Mega Man ZX (2%)

Truthfully, outside of Zero barely edging out X, these results don’t surprise me too much. Though I have to admit, I don’t know if I’d take stock in a group of people whom the majority think the GameCube controller is the best Nintendo controller.

Aside from that, the magazine also gave brief mentions of the Jazware’s Mega Man JUVI figures, and the upcoming Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Star Force Official Complete Works books.

Servbot Bobble Budds in Nature

Have you bought your Servbot Bobble Budd yet? I was considering it myself but with all these Kotobukiya figure coming out now it’s a tough choice for where to put the money. However, this figure review at Tomopop may help you make your decision. Alternatively, if you already have a Bobble Budd, this review will also instruct you how to treat the little guy. (Hint: He really doesn’t like the toaster, even though his face says otherwise.)

Kotobukiya Blues First Look (Updated)

Hot on the heels of seeing Roll’s true colors, here’s our first look at the prototype for Blues. This was presented at the Chara Hobby 2010 event in Japan. The poster notes that Blues will come with a detachable shield and three different face plates. As reported before, Blues is planned for release by the end of the year, probably in December. Price is unknown, but will likely be within the league of Rockman and Roll.

Update: According the the image after the break (which I didn’t look at closely enough), the Blues figure has actually been pushed back a little, and is planned to release sometime in early 2011.

The Mega Man Olympics Confuses, Bewilders

That plumber and the blue hedgehog have had their shot at Olympic Gold, so why not Mega Man?

That would seem to be the loose rationale applied by Capcom Unity‘s JGonzo and Rockman Unity(aka “Unity of Japan”)’s Ucchy as they put together the following trailer.

Said Snow of Capcom Unity: “If you have any ideas on what this is, post in the comments please. Someone please explain this to me.”

On another note, we usually save the “Mega Man News” category tag for stories which directly involve Capcom or its licensees, while “Community News” tends to follow everything else. And though this does directly involve Capcom… we don’t know where this goes.

Assuming your head did not explode from viewing the trailer, feel free to leave any remaining thoughts you may have in the comments below.

More Mega Man Universe to Come at PAX?

Following Capcom’s announcement of Mega Man Universe, fans were left with but one reaction.

Indeed, Capcom revealed a new Mega Man game, but after three separate occasions of talking about it, no one had any real idea of what they just saw. Sure, there were plenty of theories and lots of speculation, but actual cold, hard facts were few.

Mega Man vs. Street Fighter

It seems that the Blue Bomber has finally had it with the stars of Street Fighter getting to take on all comers in company crossovers. As such, he’s said “nuts” to the First Law of Robotics and decided to do something about it, hunting down the best of the World Warriors to remind them who Capcom’s real unofficial mascot is.

First up? None other than the figurehead for the franchise itself, Ryu:

Contrary to what the end may have you believe, though, the game is far from over. So for those who may have seen the above before, read on for something new.

Capcom Store Special on Mega Man Kubrick/1UP Be@rbricks

Just a friendly notice for those of you who would like to own your very own LEGO-ish version of Mega Man and his bro-bot Proto Man: The Capcom Store is hosting a Deal of the Week on the English-packaged versions of Kubrick Mega Man and Proto Man, as well as their 1UP-emblazoned Be@rbrick counterparts.

Currently, the Capcom Store is the only place you’ll find them, and response has been so good that they are running the deal past its original due date until this Thursday night.

So, what’s the deal? Order one set, and you’ll save four dollars off the regular $39.95 price tag, and get one of their Mega Man Zero buttons with it for free. Order both, and you’ll save ten dollars (an extra dollar each), and also get the button.

A Little Look at Kotobukiya Rockman’s Detailing

We know that the upcoming Rockman figure from Kotobukiya will come with quite a bit of detail, articulation and accessories. But an article from a hobbyist magazine reveals yet more. As you can see above, the Rockman figure will come with multiple “eye plates” that fit behind the face. Using these, you can even customize the direction Rockman’s eyes are looking! I actually find this a bit useful, since sometimes, depending on the placement and orientation, a figure’s face can look a little off.

And for those feeling daunted by seeing the blank eyes, don’t worry. While painting the eyes on is an option, I’m also pretty sure the figure will come with detailed eye decals (I’d heard of the same feature with the Roll figure). Kotobukiya’s Rockman figure releases next month! And man, really makes you wonder what level of detail will go into Blues’ face…

Dr. Wily Prepares for the Next Game; Plus: More Mega Man & Wario

This has been making the rounds a bit lately, so we decided we should do our part in making sure as many Mega Man fans see it as possible. And if you already have… well, we hope you’ll enjoy it one more time.

In short, have you ever wondered how Dr. Wily spends time preparing for the next Mega Man game? YouTube user Jarosh Barksdale did, and came up with a series of nine microgames in WarioWare: D.I.Y. to illustrate the mad scientist’s equally mad labors:

“The first part of the video consists of all the mini games played in order, 2 or 3 times in a row,” he notes. “I occasionally make mistakes on purpose to show what happens when you lose.”
