Facebook Group Forms to Tell Capcom “We Like the Maverick Hunter Idea”

531817_180553618761668_1850797376_nRemember “Maverick Hunter,” the recently-revealed Iron Man meets Metroid Prime first-person shooter concept which had just a smidge of Mega Man to it, and was ultimately denied the coveted green light of progress by Capcom?

As it turns out, though a lot of people didn’t really care for it– as a Mega Man game, at least– there are still quite a few who did. Perhaps even you, the person reading this right now. If you count yourself among the latter, then you should know that you’re not alone.

One fan of what he has seen, Godfried Weihs, has started up a new Facebook page, complete with its own petition which hopes to garner enough support to get the game put back into production. “I realize it’s a long shot,” he admits, “but I figured it’s worth trying. I thought that if maybe this game got enough attention, hopefully Capcom would notice both this and Mega Man Legends 3, hopefully putting them back into development.”

He adds, “If these people could turn Metroid into an amazing FPS, I’m certain they could do the same for this game.”

At this point, we think Capcom is still trying to determine how best to proceed with the Blue Bomber, so anything may be possible yet. Only time will tell for sure.

I don’t even wanna think about this game coming to existence. People dont realize the situation Capcom put us in. Capcom is killing the franchise, giving them the idea of making an FPS Megaman or any idea like that, will make them think that thats how it’s suposed to be from now on! If there were tons of regular Megaman games and this one was a sucess, then ok, but it’s not the case.

While I have OFTEN thought to myself “Man, if Retro Studios would do for Mega Man what they did for Donkey Kong, then we’d be all set.” However, they do NOT need to do for Mega Man what they did for Metroid.

With our luck as fans though, this will be the one that gets put out while Legends 3 gathers dust for eternity.

You know what? God forbid anything new Megaman wise ever see the light of day unless it follows the same old system, right? Wow, just wow.

At this point I’d love to see this a reality, because at the present other than the ios game and project x zone or whatever the hell it’s called, the horizon for our beloved blue bomber seems pretty bleak.

Add something new/different to the mix? What a travesty. Ingrates.

    Terrible idea
    Terrible project
    Looked terrible
    So glad it died
Don’t try to resurrect it dammit…

We’ve seen Megaman go from a kid superhero; to a military cop; to a cyborg tomb-raider in water world; to a digimon; to a super-sentai/magical girl; to even a freaking alien. Change in appearances or theme isn’t anything new.

Not saying I’m 100% ok with MH. But I’m willing to give them the benefit of a doubt that major changes(for the better) would been made between that video demo and the final product. All I would have to say is, if MH was to be released, it can’t be released only.
They planned to make MH for the “adult”. So something equally as impressive would have to be made for younger players. Legends 3, Powered-Up2, SF Network Transmission, Super Wily Wars.

The idea is cool, but I don’t like the design of this so-called Mega Man. It looks boring, and it also lacks that feel of mass in its lower legs and arms, and WHY THE HOOZAH IS HE HOLDING A GUN INSTEAD OF HAVING AN ARM CANNON?!

I don’t mind the “darker” design (though I’m not a fan of this whole “we have to make it darker and adult”-crap), but it’s just they tossed some of the really cool things about Mega Man (or Mega Man X, for that matter) with this design, like the arm cannon. Or the appropiate amount of chunk.

Just take a look at the Transformers games from High Moon Studios. While these games are in fact part of a newer continuity (the same in which the Prime cartoon takes place), they’re obviously very, very long love letters to the original G1 cartoon with all their references and shout outs (to the point that you can easily define these games as “remakes” of the original cartoon). And they did a great job doing that.
Something like this could easily work for Mega Man as well, but not if they already fail to design the main character.

But still, I’d prefer Legends 3 over a totally new project. Some people have been waiting more than a decade for it to happen (myself not, since I didn’t got into the Legends series until 3 years ago).

NO. Please no. Leave my mega man alone. This looks so bad. SO BAD. I don’t need you to turn Mega Man into a generic shooter that from the trailer I know would get a 6 / 10 on every site ever. It will be forgotten and thrown into a pile with everyone’s Bionic commando and bomber man remakes. Leave it alone.

  8. Beaten Deadhorse says:

We should give every ounce of support we can to the resurrection of this game so Capcom will never, ever so much as think about it.

Remember, Capcom’s business plan is to do the opposite of what its fans want.
