Mega Man 3 Coming to 3DS in NA March 14th, other MM25 Updates
As part of a congratulations for Street Fighter X Mega Man surpassing one million downloads, Capcom Unity has today announced that Mega Man 3will be hitting the Virtual Console on the Nintendo 3DS next week on the 14th. This is certainly exciting news, and I think only Mega Man 3 can be said to rival 2 in terms of popularity and greatness. The rest of the NES classics will be following month by month.
Additionally other goodies have been announced. A special Mega Man 25th anniversary pin will be available to people attending PAX East later this month, as well as a special photo event in the works, although information there is still cloudy. Should be interesting though!
Check out Capcom Unity to see more!

*Yawn* Wake me when there’s a new game, or at the very least, a remake or a 3D classic.

If this mystery photo event prop being built is a specially-made hover bike popping a wheelie or a replica Skull Capsule, then color me impressed!!
Digital soundtracks are nice, but call me crazy for preferring to have the paint can full of CDs make it to this side of the pond instead. ‘Cause if there isn’t something special to go along with the music downloads, I can’t forsee them getting a ton of sales, sadly.
Come on Heat, you don’t have to inflate MM2 whenever you get the chance.
Good news, but I still want a new Megaman Game
Popularity maybe, but 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10 are all better than 2, Heat.
@Model M: Speaking of MM2, did you know it’s the best Mega Man game ever?
@Heat Man: How so? I love the way the answer is going to be either musically based, or some broad arbitrary thing like level design, which could be argued for most of the other games dependent on personal experience or taste.
I kind of would (even if its never going to happen) like a Powered Up continuation, oh well.
only thing im wanting right now is the megaman battle network collection im hoping it gets released on the wii u or 3ds
@Heat Man
In the words of X in X7, “Stop it!!”
@Heat Man
Amen brother, we came from the best Mega Man game EVER!!!
But Mega Man 2 is the best classic game ever. I thought this was fact? Now in the X series, I like X2 best. And I know I am in the minority there, but that’s okay by me.
This type of news stopped being interesing a long time ago. They keep on coming up with ports and megaman **** merchandise and no proper games whatsoever. Screw everything.
Surprised no one mentioned that it said MM1-6′s soundtracks would be up for sale.
Personally I like MM1 and 9 the best.
Can Capcom stop screwing the fans and give us a new game already PLEASE!
I’m sorry but I’m buying something I already have. Would it kill capcom to just make a new megaman game? Or better yet, sell the IP to nintendo.
When is Capcom gonna even THINK about releasing Mega Man 7 on Virtual Console? If they said they’re not gonna do it, then maybe Nintendo damn well better add SNES Games to 3DS Virtual Console, they got the same amount of buttons to make it work. If not, then maybe Capcom should employ M2 to make a Mega Man Collection for PS3 and XBox 360 ONLY, with Mega Man 1 to 8, Mega Man & Bass, and the Inti Games, Mega Man 9 & 10! And if Capcom sells the IP to Nintendo, what’s gonna happen to the Wily Wars, is it gonna be the ONLY Nintendo Branded Game on the Genesis?
Why do people think selling the franchise to Nintendo would be a good idea? Nintendo already can’t handle the franchises it has right now, and is outsourcing like crazy. Some franchises even have specific divisions dedicated to them like Game Freak with Pokemon, Intelligent Systems with Fire Emblem and Camelot with Golden Sun, and some still go on hiatus.
In addition to this, why does everyone put so much faith in Nintendo? I have not once seen them make a great straight up (Metroid is not straight up) action-platformer-shooter. Why not Treasure, which has made the brilliant Astro Boy: Omega Factor, or Inti-Creates which is basically starving for an original IP, and is basically ex-Mega Man staff?
If Nintendo doesn’t either buy Inti-Creates, which is doubtful, or a competent group of developers specifically for Mega Man, it will never get the love it received from Capcom up in till Keiji left in 2010. Face it, if Mega Man doesn’t contain Mario, Pokemon or Zelda in any meaningful way, it will be treated as third-class at Nintendo.
Man, it’s like pulling teeth.
I always thought that Wayforward would make an awesome Mega Man game, if not a 100% traditional one.
Too bad one of those plans won’t include Shout! Factory RE-Releasing Mega Man: The Animated Series on DVD, including an audio fix on “The Beginning.” Besides, I already have the Complete Series on DVD, the Original Print from ADV Films (with ads for Medabots, Sailor Moon and all). Would’ve been a nice way to celebrate the 25th Anniversary, with the adventures of that Super Fighting Robot, Mega Man!
@Heat: Well, if we’re talking “best Mega Man game ever”, other series than Classic included as well, I think the answer to best Mega Man game ever would be X1.
Mega Man 3 was the most stunning game of my childhood. I will assuredly be buying this game when it comes out- mark my words! Thanks for letting us know!
@YoshiAngemon: I want Mega Man 7 too! That was a great game as well!
I have a soft spot for 3 since it was the first MM game i’ve ever beaten. MM2 wily battle was admitedly better, but I like the wily stages for 3 even better. It gives you the feeling like you’re on a quest and getting closer and closer to the end. Overall to ME 3 is better but of course it’s all subject to opinion.
I believe the only reason people think MM2 is the best is because it has Metal Blades, the most broken weapon in the series. With Metal Blades, the game becomes much more easier. Let’s face it, if Metal Blades didn’t exist, would people really care for MM2 as much as they say they do?
MM2 doesn’t even have a story. It’s just Dr. Wily is back with eight Robot Masters. At least with MM3 and onwards you get some sort of story to what’s going on in each game. Even MM1 has a story compared to MM2.
This become a bit of a tangent, but I agree that Way Forward should make a Mega Man game. They did an AMAZING job with Contra 4.
