Here’s Your Preview of Archie’s Mega Man/Sonic FCBD Flip-Book, But…

CROSSOVERFCBDcomboIt’s “Good News, Bad News” time!

The good news is that, via Mega Man Monthly, we’ve learned that Comic Book Resources now has a five-page preview of the Free Comic Book Day Mega Man/Sonic the Hedgehog “flip book” we informed you of previously, which is meant as a lead-in to the upcoming “Worlds Collide” story arc. You can also find it mirrored on the Free Comic Book Day website.

The bad news is that the preview is only for Sonic the Hedgehog– no Blue Bomber in sight, just the Blue Blur. Even then, the preview doesn’t touch upon the juicy stuff, which is where the actual crossover begins to happen.

On the bright side, however, is the fact that those afraid that this lead-in– which comes a month after the event begins– would have necessary info need not worry. The in-production pages apparently come from Sonic the Hedgehog #247, which seems to indicate that the Mega Man pages will likely come from the issue just prior to the beginning of the event itself, #23. In other words, if you’re a regular reader of the books anyway, then this will just be providing a recap.

Thanks to Squeakyboots13 and Mega Man Monthly for the tips!

Ok, so it’s just a recap? That’s pretty cool. I thought Sonic fans were getting some serious plottage for a moment there in a FCBD book, which would be weird.

It’s not explicitly stated what is contained in the FCBD book, but there’s enough clues to point at it being reprints of StH #247 and MM #23.

    – Ian Flynn has stated that there will be no Archieverse characters in the crossover on either side (despite Quake Woman’s appearance on issue #24′s cover, which he stated was merely a cameo). The FCBD preview pages have original characters and talk about Sally.

    – The solicit for the FCBD features Evan Stanley on pencils for the Sonic side and Ryan Jampole on the Mega Man side. That matches up with the artists for StH #247 and MM #23 respectively.

    – The events depicted in those FCBD preview pages matches up with what’s going down in StH #247 per the solicit: Silver joins Sonic, Tails, and Amy to rescue Sally once and for all.

Also for those curious… The book will be in color. The colors were not ready when FCBD requested samples.

I gotta say, I never subscribed to the Black & White Reprints (Sonic Legacy Series) but having seen these previews I must admit I kinda like the way it looks.
