Cover, Variants and Synopsis for Worlds Collide Part 5
Comic Book Resources has unveiled today the cover and synopsis of part five of “Worlds Collide” (Sonic Universe #52). Here we see Sonic having to deal with the Genesis Unit, who briefly appeared in Mega Man #20 (very appropriate), while Mega Man faces Copy Robots of various Sonic series characters. This issue will also be available in two different hero variants. The synopsis is as follows:
The second act of the epic Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man crossover event BEGINS HERE! “When Worlds Collide” Part Five of Twelve: Sonic, Mega Man, Tails and Proto Man enter the strange world of the Skull Egg Zone. They don’t receive a warm welcome, either, as the Genesis Unit and Copy Robot attack! Drs. Eggman and Wily wait in the wings with an even more sinister surprise waiting to be unleashed! You cannot miss this action-packed issue, featuring new cover art by Patrick “SPAZ” Spaziante, and choose YOUR favorite hero with the “Team Sonic” and “Team Mega Man” variant covers!

I do wish they’d decide whether they want to call it “Worlds Collide” or “When Worlds Collide.” They made the logo based on the former, so I’m going with that, but the inconsistency drives me nuts.
Sonic, Mega Man, Tails and Proto Man enter the strange world of the Skull Egg Zone.
Just reading those words makes me smile.
The Mega Man style robot version of shadow is actually not that bad looking.
Genesis Unit? I just read about those guys. And only just now I realize that they’re from journey to the west.
anyone else agree that megaman’s feet look like finger nails….? Anyone…?
Skull Egg Zone.
That alone says that a Sonic X Mega Man game should happen. Do it Capcom!
On another note: I love those covers! Great art.
On another note: It may just be because I haven’t read it, but is Spaz the interior artist on this crossover? I know I’ve been asking this a long time, but really, I haven’t seen anything that says he will do the interiors.
To be fair, so does Sonic’s. Only more feminine and with red nail polish, instead of a big blue finger.
I’m glad I’m not the only one being driven insane by that.
Jamal Peppers is drawing the first act of the crossover, Tracy Yardley is drawing the second act, and we don’t know who’s doing the third act yet. (but it most definitely won’t be Spaz)
Yep. I can’t decide what variant I should get.
It’s not the first time. The second story arc was “Time Keeps Slipping” on the covers, but “Time Keeps on Slipping” in the interiors.
I see what you mean. Whoever the artist is they haven’t quite got the geometry for Mega Man’s “boots” just yet.
I’m not sure such a game would be any good, actually, mainly
because of the meta yin-yang amongst the stars and their parent companies. See, Mega Man needs to continue being in games. He rarely falters in his solid, robust adventures and people want more of him, but Capcom is still loathe to give in to those demands. Meanwhile, Sonic needs to stop being in games for a good while. He hasn’t had a worthy game in ages, to the point where he’s now a punch line, and by now the only reason he’s still around is because of his hip persona. He works well in almost anything but games at this point, yet Sega still insists on pumping them out.
Cannot unsee…gah!
“Sonic needs to stop being in games for a good while”
So, how’s it like, living in 2008?
