Kotobukiya Dropping Mega Man Model Kit Line

27808-00 Headby Razorsaw

With Tamashii Nation’s D-Arts line having brought us a number of Mega Man characters already, many are looking forward to what the line will bring us in the future. However, while these figures may be the current hot topic among those looking to collect plastic versions of the Blue Bomber, many have been wondering what became of Kotobukiya’s line of model kits, which has previously featured Classic Mega Man, Roll, Proto Man, and the eponymous Mega Man Zero.

Well, according to Tomopop, it unfortunately seems that what many suspected has proven true: Kotobukiya is bringing an end to the Rockman series of model kits. It seems that despite positive feedback, Kotobukiya has opted not to continue where they left off, which means no Bass to go along with the rest of the Classic series mainstays. Instead, they will be focusing on a new license.

While this is indeed disappointing, at the very least, we have the potential for new D-Arts releases to fall back on. Thanks to Advent-Axl for bringing this to our attention.

This is pretty sad, but I figured this was what was going to happen. Though… I’m hopeful that Bandai will release D-Arts of Roll and Proto Man, as it’d be nice to have these characters in the same scale with all the other D-Arts figures. The Kotobukiya model kits were awesome indeed, but they were in their own scale and not very many of them were made. =(

Yeah I’m actually depressed. These guys made the best classic megaman toys/model kits ever.

  4. Enzan Chaud says:

I’m not surprised. A series that’s dawdling in a company’s hand with all the negative feedback it’s been getting…I’d drop the toy line too.

  5. HeatPhoenix says:

Man, they made the best Mega Man kits that have come out so far. Let’s hope they don’t drop the Medarot series either.

  6. RADIX says:

Aw. :( I can’t say I’m surprised, what with the complete lack of news on Koto-MM after the Zero kit, but still.

  7. Brian Grissom says:

I guess I better pick up that Roll kit before they are “RARE NO LONGER PRODUCED!!!1″ on ebay and Amazon for $100.

Medarot? You mean Medabots? The one with Ikki and the gold robot?

  9. LanceHeart says:

    It’s called Medarot in Japan.

  10. Phaelin says:

Great, better hurry and get them before they go “Rare”…

  11. HeatPhoenix says:

Yeah. Recently a new game came out and another announcement for a new kit.

The prices are already spiking! I’m glad I got to buy Roll for $40 (the price includes shipping and handling). KotoUS has a fair (enough) price for those still looking to buy Roll, Megaman and Protoman.

Zero has a low price in various places:
    -Capcom-Unity has it for $29.95
    -KotoUS- $29.99
    -Amazon- $25.99 (very limited stock)

I’m glad I got to buy Protoman and Zero at a low price before the line was dropped. I never got around to buying Roll and since she has 2 outfits and I want to display my models I need 2 to display both outfits. . . I hope the price stays that way for at least a month!

I might actually buy these too, I loved Medabots! If only Megaman’s line wasn’t dropped.
