Mega Man and Co. Ring In the New Year in Mega Man #21

Seems like a hero can’t ever catch a break. The new announcement for Archie’s Mega Man #21 has the Blue Bomber and companions preparing to celebrate the new year, but of course trouble strikes:

“Countdown.” It’s almost New Year’s Day, and Mega Man is ready to celebrate in style! Rock, Roll, and Dr. Light are among the crowd waiting to watch the ceremonial light-ball drop at midnight, but the celebration is short-lived as the Emerald Spears return to exact their revenge on our heroes! The epic grudge match between Mega Man and Xander Payne begins now, so grab a front row seat and prepare for the battle royale!

Additionally, this issue will also be printed with a special edition cover by Alice Meichi Li (on the right). Or you can get the regular cover by Chad Thomas. However, Mega Man isn’t shooting a human in that one.

Thanks for the tip, Merricks!

  3. Pedro says:

    Wait the return of ruby and spears. Oh shit my childhood returns!

    LOL kidding. You are only young once ,but those memories will always be there.

    I really like 21′s cover. Definitely the best so far.

    But I can’t say that I like 20′s cover, it’s like a blatant trace or redraw of PS1′s MM2 port promotional artwork.

  6. Dr. Jerk says:

    …Okay shoot, I got mixed up there. Let me just correct myself and say that I dislike the green variant cover for reasons already stated, and like the blue one.

    Looks like it’s one shots for issues 19 to 21. I guessing it’s gonna continue til issue 24, after which, the Mega Man 3 storyline will be adapted.

    Oh wait, there’s still the crossover! Hmmm… I guess it’ll be after the crossover that the MM3 storyline will finally be adapted.

    Has anyone noticed that Xander is practically wearing Mega Man X1 Sigma boots?

    Finally, Rock is turning Maverick!

    And finally, we get some awesome covers again :D

    @A-Guest
    Well, the First Law of Robotics states that robots can attack humans if it’s to protect other humans. Although if you want to take Asimov’s work literally, robots wouldn’t be able to do this without suffering tremendous psychological trauma. Hey, maybe Archie’s gearing up for an emo arc. :p

  11. Airman says:

    *sigh* these covers are awesome but if you told me 10 years ago that ARCHIE of all companies would doing more for Mega Man for his 25th anniversary than his own publishing company…..I don’t know what I’d think.

  12. Aaron says:

    The quality of these covers is pretty low compared to the ones from the Mega Man 2 arc. The first is okay, if not a little bland, but the second one looks pretty bad. Perhaps I don’t care for inconstant art styles.

    @Glitcher

    Doubt it.
    However, it makes me wonder how Archie will handle the final of Rockman7/MegaMan7 as Rock’s malfunction was supposed to be the only of its sort.
