Peeking at the Rockcan’s Special Bonuses and Curiosities
The impressive but pricy “Rockcan” soundtrack collection comes out next week, and Rockman Unity has one more promotional push for the set. This comes with the announcement of four special anniversary prints done by Capcom staff artists. Only four people who preorder the Rockcan by the 18th will be chosen randomly to win one of these illustrations. As you can see they’re not mere copies or anything – they look like the real deal straight off the drawing board, and they’re nice a large.
Furthermore, Ucchy’s article also gives a brief glimpse of the color booklet that comes with the soundtrack. Aside from a nice collage of Mega Man artwork from the first to tenth titles, the credits page is also shown with some interesting entries. Ippo Yamada is present, no doubt he helped with refining the tracks. Hitoshi Ariga is also listed, so perhaps we can expect some special artwork. There’s even a spot that’s mysteriously blurred out. But what I find most interesting is the “ROCKMAN series Research & Development Staff” under special thanks. Can’t say I was aware of such a group. I can only wonder what they’re up to…
You can check out more amusing photos on Ucchy’s post. Also, if you have the hefty sum needed and no way to order from e-Capcom, you can still pick up a can from CD Japan.

Capcom it’s lazy, the box it’s crap and they didn’t bother with individual covers for each disc, just a clear case.
They should have printed the 4 illustration in postcards or something, we are paying a lot for this thing, let’s some lucky people get the original drawings, the rest, simple postcards at least
They did bother to produce a big metal E-can, release music properly recorded for the first time (MM7 I’m looking at you), and release music that’s never been officially released before. But you’re right, they’re “lazy.”
It may not be everything people dream it would be, but it does a fine job of being a ten-game soundtrack collection which is all it really had to be. Prints of the artwork would have been nice, but personally I don’t think four postcards would have made a big difference in justifying its cost.
Wily pinching Rock’s cheeks is something I did not expect to see today.
@Moobire
Good for you , I have higher standards for that money, specally when I have other soundtrack collection that cost the same and they have better package and more unreleashed music.
I agree; the price is too great for the package. I guess the difference is that I won’t be buying it, while you seem resigned to a purchase.
I think the blurred out text, there, reads “All RockMan Staff Members” if that’s what you’re referring to.
Dat face!
@Sam:
You see “Rockman Staff Members,” I see “Rockman Unity Members.” Who knows of course, being blurred like that, but to me it’d be redundant if it’s “Staff” when they already thanked all Capcom Staff before that.
Can’t truly judge the size, but laying flat the booklet maybe seems like it might be close to the size of the Rockman 9 Arranged one. Doubt there’s a whole short Ariga comic again, but interested to see what is in there.
Love the Eddie/Multi-tank illustration. It’d be nice if clean digital versions of them pop up after they are all given away.
Looking at it again, Miyabi, methinks you’re right.
No one saw the “yaraniaka” face of Dr. Light????
I don’t care, as long as they arrange “ENDLESS STRUGGLE”.
Best song in MM10, and there are no remixes of it yet, fan made or official remixes.
Album credit page: good.
Credits by disc: even better.
Come on, closure.
@rockman: Out of curiosity, would those other soundtrack boxes happen to be from Japan as well? Because there are plenty of other soundtrack collections that I would enjoy then come in relatively simple packaging in comparison that sell for just as much if not more than the Rockcan. If you’re referring to US soundtrack/music bundles, please don’t, because the different in price is well enough to stop comparing them together.
It’s the same way you can go buy Persona 4 Part 1 on DVD in the US shortly for around $30-40, yet that wouldn’t even get you the first two episodes on DVD in Japan…
