Bandai’s D-Arts Line Is Going to Get Classic (Updated)
Earlier this year at the San Diego Comic Con, Bluefin Tamashii Nations showed off what they’re hoping will be the future of the Mega Man X D-Arts figure line by Bandai (and we’re hoping too). But recent info gives rise to another “future” for the line. According to Tonberi Tei, as well as reports on 2ch, Bandai is preparing a D-Arts figure of classic Mega Man to release in Japan this December. This information may be leaked from store owners, who have received details from Bandai set to be publicized September 5th.
Because this is seemingly a leak, and no details are pictures are available so far, we’re marking this as a rumor for now. However, the wait may not be very long at all. Bandai is prepping a Tamashii Features showcase event this Saturday, so if Mega Man is legit official word could be coming very soon. We’ll also reach out to our sources at Bluefin to see what we can uncover.
I know many of you have been loving Bandai and Bluefin’s Mega Man X goods, but how do you feel about the line going to classic Mega Man? I imagine some people might not be as excited, since Kotobukiya already covered classic Mega Man with their model kits. However, the features and detail of the D-Arts line could give a lot to Mega Man.
UPDATE: Although we don’t have any pictures or new details on the figure, it turns out that origin of the listing is from Bandai’s own online Tamashii Mail Magazine. So the figure is very much real. Hopefully information and media will be coming from this weekend’s Bandai event!

Heck, it’s Classic Megaman! How could I NOT be excited? Still need to get a job soon so I can finally start buying all of these things that have been coming out lately for Megaman.
Eh, Kotobukiya was doing well. Let them do it.
D-Arts is taking over Rockman AND Medarot? They’re cool, but also really expensive. And Kotobukiya’s are cool (hanging in between High Grade and Master Grade) and really cheap.
Oh, gosh, I hope this rumor is true! I do like the X series, but the original Mega Man will always be my favorite! I just hope they’re on the same scale as the other D-Arts figures. The Kotobukiya figures look huge next to them.
This will be cool! I hope they make King.
This is great news, but I hope they don’t take the easy way, I want figures for Dr.Wily or Bass, or someone that it’s not Rockman, Roll or Blues, we already have many of those.
I wonder what this could mean for Sigma and the Ride Armor…? Hope they continue with the X line still, assuming this is true.
I hope it doesn’t start with Mega Man, Proto Man, and Roll…as much as I love them…
I’m super excited by this, if it turns out to be true. I’d love for Mega Man, Proto Man, Bass, and Duo to adorn my shelf. Oh man, what if D-Arts puts out a transformable Rush? Amazing!
They have been easier to obtain than Kotobukiya’s so far, so this should be interesting. I really hope they focus more on the X series for now, though.
Unless they decide to make characters Kotobukiya didn’t, I don’t really like this =/
Depends on exactly what they do with it. If they go the route of Hitoshi Ariga’s design aesthetics, I’d be all for it. Otherwise the Kotobukia kits are doing fine by me… the classic ones anyway.
The only other thing I think might be good is if they’re made to scale with the existing X figures… not that it’s that big a deal, but standing my classic Rock next to X makes for an awkward display.
Either way, just keep doing the X series figures… I’m still waiting for either Force Armor or Ultimate Armor X
Aw man, then this means I’ve totally wasted money on the Kotobukiya models.
Oh well, having D-Arts figures of the Classics line would be awesome. I just hope they include Bass this time.
Kotobukiya is much more affordable for comparable display value, and you guys can say what you want, but that Zero kit was sublime.
I’m going to echo what others have said, a decent Bass figure is well overdue no doubt we’ll get Megaman & Protoman but i’d also love to see Jet Megaman & Bass in his Treble Boost guise too ….. sooo many possibilities & although this probably will never happen but i wish that one of these toy manufacturers would just bite the bullet & start releasing figures of the Robot Masters & Mavericks
I agree with Vhyper. It was great to get Vile as a villain in the X series, but lets get some classic and X series level bosses. I’d love to see a scale Gutsman, and a Quickman!
@ Mugen Wing:
I doubt D-Arts classic series stuff would render your Kotobukiya figures obsolete. Those have their own special charm, that I doubt D-Arts will replicate. I am interested to see how the presentation/proportions of these new classic series shakes out. Please bring us Auto/Rightot!

Hmm… I’m not that excited for some reason… But even so, they better make Bass and Treble finally then the basic Megaman, Protoman and Roll. And robot masters, like independent sculptors do more robot mastrers than big brand companies! And I swear they better be in scale with current X line, it would be weird to have Megaman the same size as X. And please god, PLEASE fix those STUPID elbow joints!!! Like the neck, shoulders, wrist, upper waist, lower waist, hips and ankles have ball joints!!! Why the hell does the elbow and knees have peg joints!!! What the…? HELLO BANDAI, ITS CALLED “DOUBLE BALL JOINT”!!!!! DOUBLE BALL JOINTS!!!! DOUBLE BALL JOINTS!!!! lol!
I also don’t believe if this line were to come it wouldn’t make the Kotobukiya line worthless, but it’d more for those that can build, customize and such as they have been as I’ve seen, and the D-Arts would be to who can’t build, lazy, and just want it straight out of the box.
@undamned
I guess you’re right–they are charming in their own rights. Still, I just wish I waited a bit longer.
While this isn’t a bad thing its not really some thing that gets me excited. As other have pointed out Kotobukiya is already making Classic Mega Man figures.
not to beat this dead horse, but what was the point of that poll that Mega Man Vollnutt won if they are just going to ignore it?
I know there is more involved when deciding on what to make, but i don’t see the point in making a product that has already been out for awhile, when people have shown interest in a product no one has made.
I love classic Mega Man, but his design just isn’t interesting enough to warrant a purchase from me. I mean, imagine if Bandai never released model kits of anything but the Gundam, Guntank, Guncannon, and Zaku. Megaman may stand for a lot. He may be the most iconic, sentiment inspiring character in the whole series, but there are definitely a lot of exotic characters that (still) need their own figures. Like Sigma for instance.
Oh excellent. I liked the Kotobukiya model kits, but I’m not very good at the whole model making aspect… so I’d much rather just buy a super-poseable figure that will look great.
REALLY?WHY? they need to leave that since it’s been over done too many times and just keep on with the X series like some mavericks, why do they always do this start a line then not finish it? Come on Bandai your better than this
Ariga-styled line/variants please! Oh man, Ariga Blues, Wily and Shadow…MAKE THEM!
Koto’s and the Retro Rotos are still nice and all, but they’re different styles of figures. Considering how most garage kits have been better looking/quality than the official Classic figures we’ve gotten over the years, I can’t wait to see how Bandai will handle Classic Rock.
Well, I don’t think this means they won’t continue with the X series line. As for the “why” on them doing this? I’d like to think it’s because of the 25th anniversary.
D-Arts Classic Megaman, eh? I’m hoping it’s the Ariga version or something, too, since Koto already made a very nice game-Megaman model. (I’d also like an RS Megaman D-Arts, but that’s just me)
Kinda makes me wonder if Kotobukiya still has the license–and when Trigger will get a D-Arts (I’m with RCase).
Kotobukiya did the generic anime-type of Mega Man, so I’m intrigued to see what D-Arts will come out with.
dont expect anything good from people over at Capcom or anything to do with MegaMan anymore a fail gaming company is still a fail gaming company X over proves that enough… (laughs)
Rockman’s Corner has an actual photo of the Bandai D-Arts classic Rockman posted right on the front page.

I hope that Bandai eventually bring the Mega Man Zero series D-Arts.
So many great character designs… the four guardians, copy X, Zero’s new slicker armor.
One day I hope they go there cause it would be awesome.
I say finish x series cause the bad guys and some of the good guys but most important what axl ain’t no factor he should be gettin work on don’t matter how much they want that’s who I want to get before sigma and whatevere else Megaman line up it’s just right axl be right with x and zero hope yall really see this please consider this I’m beggin tru x fan I’ll be good with just axl if that’s who u will just make think about you have buyers don’t matter with top dollars I’ll get him
