VGMM Checks Out More Mega Man Merchandise

Our buddy Nightram, curator for the Video Game Memorabilia Museum, is back with a new batch of recently-acquired Mega Man goodies (and a cool shirt, we might add). Among the items shown are keychains, cell phone charms, pins, trading cards, patches, cloth helmets, and plush Busters.

Pretty cool stuff all around, but who else is a little disappointed that Bass was left out of the helmet/Buster action?

its a good effort to post a video with some trinkets of MegaMan but when it comes down to it no one really wants to buy 8bit prints of him after what has happened to him the Helms were ok and im not trying to be mean to this guy at all in anyway i just want to point out that if your a true fan of MegaMan you wont buy any crap that is just a copy and paste job i wish Capcom would make some thing worth while to buy for once other then the game it self… *cough* sorry i mean MegaMans creator is the one who made the games the way they are in the past but now you can just see from the posts on the Zover game and just see that past MegaMan is all there is and new MegaMan will for ever be a Piece of **** im just a realist i dont like to Butt hug some company tell they release a Cell phone game and talk to other Fans like “you should support bringing MegaMan back not talking a whole lot of hate about him” for the Fans who say that i say **** you clearly the ones who are mad are just more of a Fan then you are go back to X men… (please)

    Everything looks like cheap crap.

    @ Davis

    Who is a clueless fan??

  6. I think it may be worth pointing out that, if you look at the background and website, I don’t think Nightram discriminates much in regards to what he buys in terms of video game merchandise. Of course, YMMV and one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, but…

(Personally, I thought the stuff was neat.)

  7. Desmou says:

Sheesh, I sure thought it was neat to see the sorts of random things these companies are still producing.

Just about anything these days is a touchy subject around here. :D

I really have to agree with davis on one thing… I really hate cut and paste merchandise… I mean, shirts with official artwork? 8bit pins? stuff that fans could with a little effort make for themselves? I mean, everyone can easily get the sprite art, or the official artwork on their computer.

the rest doesn’t take much work. I mean, you want a mega man puzzle? just save some official artwork on a flash drive and take it to CVS and have them make you a puzzle. etcy has tons of mega man 8 bit sprite chains, necklaces, etc,y. shirts, get the art and go to somewhere and have them print out the shirt if you want it on a color shirt, or just iron it on if you want a white mega man T.

Also… I’m pretty sure the box for the X4 cards say “Playing cards”, not trading cards… I think it’s a standard poker deck or something… I don’t see very many people trading those…

I guess if I was a pin collector or liked to wear patches and was too lazy to make one myself, I might be excited about this… but really, I’d rather have custom artwork from AWD or Tabby.

  9. Anti-Wave Man says:

A bass helmet would be hard to make with the fins and stuff, that’s the only reason why it wasn’t made.

  10. Phaelin says:

@erikthered: At least you dislike the merch for logical reasons.

@davis: You know, they don’t make Invader Zim cartoons anymore, but that stuff flies off the shelves. Always has. Getting pissy about merchandise because no new games are coming out is ridiculous.

Besides, I’ll gladly take some of the fan games that are coming out lately over a new Capcom game any day.

  11. Anti-Wave Man: Aye, but still disappointing… especially with the detail which went into the others.

  12. Tabby says:

@erikthered Wow, I’m quite honored that someone would actually want my artwork!

  13. Tony Ponce says:

I wouldn’t blame Capcom for most of the merchandise that comes out. It isn’t the company making this stuff. All Capcom has to do is sign off the license, then you get weirdness like air fresheners.
