Destructoid Previews Mega Man #15, Ponders Issue’s Take on Robot Ethics
Our friends over at Destructoid have just gotten their hands on the latest Mega Man preview from Archie Comics, this one showing the opening moments of issue #15, which is part three of the “Spirit ex Machina” story arc.
In addition, Tony Ponce recalls an article he wrote some 14 months ago about the logic of granting robots personalities, and notes that the issue– while not taking it on from the perspective of Dr. Wily as he had– still manages to cover many of the same points. “It’s a very deep debate,” he offers, “and I’m stunned that the comic is handling it so eloquently.”
You can check out the full five-page preview for yourself, live and in color, right here.

I still think that Dr. Lalinde looks weird. Still, it looks like a great story so far! XD And that last shot of Dr. Cossack in the preview, it makes me wonder what could happen in the future that he’d turn ala Dr. Wily? XD
Have to admit, I’ve gotten into the series enough that I don’t want to spoil myself on previews any longer. I just wish it didn’t take so long for them to release the issues digitally!
Looks great so far.
Love how Rock was about to fool the patrol in his human form (the only thing that looked robot were his kneepad though).
Also this issue gives an impression on why Dr.Light couldn’t release X in the 21st century even if he wants to.
People are just to scared of this new type of robots so instead of giving it a try, they destroy it.
Love the story, it’s just awesome.
The art in general is really a coin toss in these comics. I’ve been buying them as they come out and the art is either really cool or just terrible and yes Lalinde looks odd but then so does her creation..Quake Woman.
I did like seeing Wily discover both Ra Moon and Shadow Man in the last issue which are essentially canon (albeit I thought he was supposed to have modified Shadow Man to look like a ninja not find him that way but oh well). It’s just cool that they’ve given nods to Super Adventure Rockman.
I have to say that seeing Dr. Lalinde’s reaction to Dr. Light’s Maverick speech in #14 said what the preview just confirmed, namely, that Tempo suffered a setback, and Dr. Lalinde, heartbroken, uninstalled her personality.
(.. oh, as an aside, I just named my new female dwarf hamster Dr. Noele, after the roboticist. just a fan trying to cope with an upcoming anniversary…)
Looks to be the best story arc so far. Flynn is a genius when it comes to this kind of writing.
