100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3 is Making Headlines Again

When Mega Man Legends 3 was initially cancelled, headlines were made all throughout the gaming world, some of which involved the formation of the group whose focus was to prove Capcom wrong; that there is indeed interest in creating a sequel to the long-dormant tale of Diggers, Air Pirates, and Reaverbots.

And with the first goal of 100,000 members having been reached, headlines are being made once again. In addition to our colleague Protodude sharing in the occasion, the following are some other outlets which have picked up the story.

And finally, there is this video from AlphaOmegaSin, offering his congratulations to the group for successfully… er, bringing the game back? Anyway, beware of NSFW language:

We can definitely appreciate the “never give up” message here, that much is certain.

Of course, Capcom has still yet to respond or openly acknowledge the milestone. If anything comes up, we’ll naturally be on top of it and bring it right to you.

I know that a lot of people are calling BS on how we reached our goal (fraudulent accounts, paid advertisements, etc.), how little 100K actually is to bring the game back into production, or how we wasted a year of our lives clamoring for something out of our reach, but look at it this way. Honestly speaking…does any of that really even matter at this point?

Whether we wasted our time or not, we managed to at least get up and do something. That alone matters more than any form of criticism one can muster, whether constructive or condescending, and I for one wouldn’t sit down and just take everything that has happened as a loss even if there is some sort of hope. Idealistic? Yes. Impossible to achieve? Not in the slightest.

I’m only speaking for myself when I say this, and forgive me for coming off as “self-entitled”, but I believe that there was not a single second wasted in trying to obtain something that we were basically promised.

Fantastically well said Tenryo. We should all be so dedicated. Thanks for all of your effort.

  3. Tornado Man says:

I don’t believe that there are as many fraudulent accounts as People think there are. And as for advertising goes, so what? Its just spreading word of the cause, it’s not advertisements make people click the like button,t hey still have to find it worth their while.

I am happy for the movement (Hell, I’m one of the 100,000) but it really is a wasted effort. Capcom hasn’t acknowledged it, and probably never will. Even if they do, it’ll just be some generic PR nonsense, and not magically revive the game.

  5. mirahsan2 says:

In that case…we’ll just have to make it 200,000 Strong then now won’t we? This isn’t just for Legends anymore, it’s for all the Mega’s.

  6. ManwholovesRockamusic says:

Exactly, I am glad I stuck it out this long with you guys and gals of 100,000 strong and I will continue to do so. I will continue doing what I do best support and rally people to keep the spirits alive. I am very proud of seeing that mark and even after we hit and made the goal it continues to grow steadly and sometimes in huge leaps or small ones at a time. I want to see this fandom happy again thats all I want if anything.Thats my goal.

This reminds me of the Namco tales games. We recently got Tales of Graces F. Which was something they were never going to bring over. But people kept fighting and that same fighting I’m sure will get things going with Legends 3 again. Congrats to 100,000 strong. Hopefully however it’s enough to push things forward, but till then we’ll just keep fighting. Not just for legends but all mega man in general.

  8. Owen says:

One of the reasons I hear as to why Capcom hasn’t responded is that they want to make sure they choose what they do carefully. They don’t want to give away any false impressions or anything.

  9. rockman says:

I’m not a beliver in this kind of initiatives, but this only could bring positive things to the community, at least the media and Capcom will be aware that we are still here ready to support our favourite franchise when they decide to bring it back, with a new game, new series or Legends 3, the prologue or the full game.

  10. Slider says:

Pretty cool that all these legitimate gaming sites are covering the story. I can’t help but think they’re doing it not just because it’s a story worth covering, but to help the cause in general by providing publicity and exposure. Good stuff. Good stuff.

    In b4 h8ers

  11. Green says:

G4 understandably panders to mainstream gaming. Mega Man has unfortunately become kind of a hardcore niche so they feel safe poking fun at us.

Screw them and everybody else who says we shouldn’t try and get this game made. It doesn’t hurt them any.

  12. KGN-004 says:

If it’s just going to be a 3DS game, I say let it die. >:(

  13. Tayo says:

If we don’t get anything out of this, we’ll show the world at least that the Mega Man fan base is one of the strongest in the world. We’re willing to go to great lengths to show our appreciation of the games.

  14. ManwholovesRockamusic says:

Stay classy my brothers and sisters we got more work ahead. :)

  15. Neo Variable says:

Awesome job guys. But don’t stop.

  16. Jose says:

Tenryo.. you’re statement is the epitome of win. We must never give up! Never submit! For the 100,000 Strong!

  17. Cloud Strife says:

Thanks and congratulations to everyone giving support! Way to go fans! =D Keep it up and never stop! :) If not PS3 then at least it’s getting somewhere than nowhere. 3DS and maybe PS3 or PS4 in the future? Learn from the past, the future can always be better and brighter!

  18. erikthered says:

hey, does anyone have a net yuroze? can’t the fans all work together to make a secret legends 3? then release it on darknet or something? or release actual PS1 style CD’s? I’m sure the fans could make a much better (or much worse) legends 3! I mean, 100,000 strong, so at least 500 people who have some game creation related skills, right?

  19. Roll Light says:

    >implying you guys will get your game

I like Mega man Legends, but jesus christ you could slap another name on the game and you wouldn’t even know it was a Mega man game.

  20. SketchMan3 says:

@Roll Light: So true. Well, you’d have to change a few other things too, like the looks of the characters, certain cameos and references, etc.

Not that any of that matters. We don’t support the game just because it has Megaman’s name attached to it. We support it because it’s a good game.

  21. erikthered says:

@Roll Light: perhaps the same could be said of all religions

  22. KGN-004 says:

    @erikthred

    What does that even mean?

  23. Tenryo says:

    @KGN-004

It means that all games are a miserable pile of secrets.
