Fans Culminate to Create Zero 10th Anniversary Compilation

Following in line with Mega Man Zero‘s 10th anniversary, passionate fans in Japan are putting together something pretty special. It’s a community collaboration called the “Rockman Zero 10th Anniversary Anthology.” This self published book (aka doujinshi), contains 110 pages of short comics and illustrations by talented Zero fans. What’s more, it also has an interview with Serou, the person behind Yama Tai Koku – one of the most prominent makers of Rockman garage kits.

The Anthology is set to go on sale next week via a couple upcoming conventions in Tokyo: COMIC1 on the 30th and SUPER COMIC CITY 21 on May 4th. Later on it will also be available at Comiket 82. The A5 sized compilation will run for ¥1,200. With any luck, it will also see reprinting at major doujin retailers. Otherwise it might become a bit of a rare item.

A tiny bit more of the compilation can be seen on this Pixiv entry, teasing a 16 page comic about Zero fighting Copy X. All in all, what a great way to celebrate Zero‘s 10th!

  2. Glitcher says:

And we weren’t invited to participate? Woooooo…. :(

  3. Rock-X says:

So, this is gonna be available at the conventions on the 30th? Interesting: I wouldn’t mind having this in my collection. I wonder if the on-line retailer in Japan is going to be there? Maybe I can ask for this through him. That would be something.

  4. SamuraiLloyd says:

Pretty sweet. I always love it when fans take the initiative with stuff like this.

  5. Skybane_Zero says:

    Crap, I NEED THAT BOOK!
…Say, Heat Man, you live in Japan right now, right? How much do you charge for import services? P:

  6. Gaia says:

Some of them look herpy derpy, I’m not gonna lie.

And some of them remind me of the user on Deviant Art, Zenaku18 by the way they were drawn.

Allouete is there, only that she had a sub-plot surrounding her.

Dr Weil in the back looks something out of a Makai Senki Disgaea game.

How Zero was handled, it resembled him fighting his own demons, hence his look.

Makes me wonder why we haven’t done something similar.

Granted, we do have the Fieldbook, Mega Man Tribute and the people behind 100,000 Strong, so it’s not like the West is lazy with their own fandom.

I think that cover looks gorgeous, personally. And the comic teaser image collage-thingy looks promising. :D

  9. MegaFan says:

The Japanese always have the good stuff!!!! Extremely rare resin kits and other goodies and now this book! If theres a interview about Yama-Tai-Koku (EXCELLENT sculptor!!!) in it, then I’m getting it to add it to my collection of his work!

  11. LadyRuby says:

This is definitely going to be mine!!!

  12. Josh says:

The artwork at the top looks absolutely beautiful and very authentic to say that the fans made this. Almost like they were perfecting this ever since Zero 4 was released.

  13. Lumine1412 says:

    @gaia
Zenaku18 also got a Pixiv account if my memory serve correctly, so who know. s/he might also participated in this. Also, The style is pretty generic anyway, nothing unique or signature-worthy about it

  14. Alyssa Watts says:

OH MY GOD!!!… I want this. WANT. THIS. X3

Just made it my new background on my laptop.
