IGN’s Preview of Mega Man #11

Though subscribers have begun receiving their copies, those with local comic book shops near them will be able to get their hands on the penultimate chapter of the Mega Man 2 adaptation, “The Return of Dr. Wily,” this Wednesday.

In the meantime, you can scope out the five-page preview over at IGN, which finds our Blue Bomber continuing his quest to end the threat of Dr. Wily’s homegrown Robot Masters to his fair city. Next up, of course, is Air Man, who we received a glimpse of before.

And now that the word balloons and lettering have been added, you’ll find… well, you’ll see…

I got my copy of this issue the other day. Just wait until you see the Short Circuits section. I chuckled pretty heartily at it. This issue also leaves you with an “Oh crap” type of ending.

  2. INSERT COIN says:

What? But…but Mega Man CAN’T beat Airman! He just…can’t!!!!

    SHENANIGANS!!!

  3. Sasquatch says:

…WHAT!?! Why is Airman Ga Taosenai NOT in the tags?! I am OUTRAGED, sirs…!

But in all seriousness, I now love the writers for doing that joke. It’s one of those things where you’re worried, “no, it’s too obvious–they won’t go for it”. However, they did. And it was amazing.

…Then again, seeing as there WAS a Megas reference earlier, not to mention the Sonic comic using “snooping as usual”, it seems Archie really loves using those internet culture references. Which makes me hopeful, actually.

  4. Tornado Man says:

This comic is awesome. Its story sticks to original closely and yet loosely enough to still be interesting and faithful at the same time. It’s like they understand exactly where they are allowed to take liberties and where they are not.

  5. Sasquatch: All from the delightfully offbeat mind of Mr. Ian Flynn.

  6. Airman says:

Well, what’d u guys/gals think? Did I look cool in this issue or what? LOL!

  7. HeatPhoenix says:

Argh, I really want these new issues!

Why is shipping from midtown comics so expensive!

  8. Phaelin says:

There was also a Brentalfloss reference in this issue!

    Spoilers ahoy, I suppose:

  9. Sasquatch says:

@ Airman: I think you should have made him use an E-Tank. XD Walking RIGHT up to him wasn’t the best choice of moves…that’s why you always JUMPED in the game!

  10. Ralene says:

I got my copy this weekend and needless to say, it continues to improve my expectations every issue. Why do I have to wait a whole month to see how it all turns out?!

Agreed with Kholdstare89 here, the ending (though sort of expected if you’ve been reading between the lines) absolutely leaves you with an OH CRAP feeling.

Also Wily, here’s a tip for you. If you tried a stunt like this before now, you would have likely taken over the city by this point…

  11. Cuttingitup says:

I got my copy today, and I must say this is quite interesting. I can’t wait for the next issue to see how this pans out.

  12. Airman says:

    @Sasquatch

Heh, what can I say? I wanted it to look…..bold…and, DRAMATIC!!! I always was an overactor….lol. XD

  13. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

I feel so jealous I don’t have this here. WHY WON’T MY BOOKSTORE STOCK THEM?!

But, yeah, from what I’ve seen so far, this is intense. I like it. XD Plus, the art is BAD ASS. Seriously.

  14. Thormeister says:

Best issue so far. Flash Man’s reaction to Rock losing his helmet was priceless.

I live in the UK and the Archie Mega Man comics aren’t sold in stores, so I have to rely on pre-ordering them on Forbideen Planet.com (I can’t even get a subscription being outside of the US) and even THEN they still sell out and I can’t get hold of all of them. I’m missing two editions of the Mega Man 2 storyline, so I have no idea what’s going on! :-(
