Cover and Solicitation for Archie’s Mega Man #14

A new cover and solicitation have arrived for the 14th issue of Archie’s Mega Man comic book series.

Click the image at the right to see the full cover, and then check out what to expect from this issue’s story, which seems to clarify some details left hanging by the last issue’s cover:

Mega Man #14

“(W) Ian Flynn (A) Gary Martin & Various (CA) Patrick
Spaz Spaziante

‘Spiritus ex Machina,’ Part Two. It’s pandemonium as the Emerald Spears extremist group has taken everyone at the A.R.T.S. hostage! It’s up to Mega Man and Rush to lead Elec Man, Pharaoh Man and Quake Woman to save the day! Meanwhile, Dr. Wily attempts to awaken the power of the mysterious Ra Moon.”

“Quake Woman?” Intriguing…

Thanks to Merricks for the tip, and to Wilyman for the extra nudge.

    @Glitcher:

    What makes Murkman sure about Archie sticking to the classic series, you ask? You brought up the fact that the Sonic comics do something with all of the games, to some degree. This works for characters like Sonic and Mario. Not so much with Mega Man.

    Why?

    Sonic(the one and only) is usually in all of his games, just with a different age, depending on when the games take place. Archie can experiment with this, because, in the end, it’s always the same Sonic The Hedgehog.

    Mega Man, however, is restricted to the classic series, which mainly spotlights DRN-001 as Mega Man. All other series may have a Mega Man, but it isn’t the original, DRN-001. Throwing in another series featuring a different Mega Man so soon may confuse the reader.

    @ Engine: Couldn’t have said it better. That is why, Glitcher.

    While the naming convention problem could be fixed by switching to their nicknames. As Bob stated, Flynn said he didn’t want to combine series, which means that the comic will be restricted to the Classic series.

    -and as I said. The stories of the games were largely very sparse. The intro at the beginning of each game is pretty much all you have to go on story-wise, the rest requires improv.

    My problem with the quake woman is that her existing this early takes away splash woman’s title of being the first female RM in the series. I’d rather they had found a way to introduce the MM9 RMs this early instead. They are Dr Light’s robots as well right? plus they have expiration dates and don’t go rogue till that date is upon them which means they could be around doing… stuff?

    @jive: Splash Woman is first in the games. To say that other scientists would not have created female robots up until that point would just be silly.
