Next 10 Years of Mega Man Being Discussed by “Top Men” at Capcom
Considering the infamy of the line, we’re sure some people will take this the wrong way, but here goes…
Capcom published a new Ask Capcom Q&A video yesterday at Capcom Unity, and as one might expect, the subject of Mega Man came up. More specifically, the subject of the 25th anniversary was brought up by one fan, while another asked about whether or not we have anything to look forward to at all in the Blue Bomber’s future.
Tackling these questions was Corporate Officer/Senior Vice-President Christian Svensson, who answered the first question “We are continuing to noodle what our plans and what our celebration should be,” adding “there’s a whole bunch of things that we know we kind of have to get in a row before we actually really divulge or start to celebrate Mega Man.”
As for the other, he said “I hesitate to say exactly what, because I don’t want people reading more into it than is there,” before adding “Let’s just say there are top men thinking about and actively discussing where we’re going to take the brand for the next ten years and how we’re going to do it.”

Speaking as someone who works in the press, I recognize a vague non-answer when I see it. They’re not planning squat. He’s giving an evasive, vague answer that commits them to nothing and puts it off til later.
If they were planning anything for the 25th anniversary, he’d have said something better than, “I don’t want people reading more into it than is there.”
In other words, “Don’t get your hopes up.”
@Soultrigger:
You’re wrong. The Boss Transformations were not useless in ZXA. They were just specialized.
I am very cynical about Capcom. It seems since Inafune left that Capcom could care less about the Blue Bomber imo.
They don’t know what they’re gonna do. I am pretty sure they could care less since they actually (as one example at least) refused Inafune’s help when he reached out to help Megaman Legends 3.
The series definitely needs to go in a new direction. Mario, Sonic, and Link all eventually moved on and evolved. Legends was certainly a step in the right direction, but I feel like a new fully 3D game could be something awesome.
I feel like MMX would have a lot of potential as a 3D game, just because X has so many mobility options, and the world is a really cool place during that part of the timeline. They could have some really interesting and fast paced platforming sections, not to mention some awesome set pieces since X is so action-oriented.
when will Rockman online be avialible to american audiences?
Yet another franchise I love finding its way to the graveyard. The world of videogames is so disappointing nowadays. Oh well, good times don’t last long.
