Mega Man X Takes the DLC Vote Crown
The voting is over, the dust has settled, and the results are in. And X fans should be accordingly happy! Because in the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 DLC fan poll, the big blue guy won it with 2,568 votes, a whopping 542 votes ahead of second pick Phoenix Wright. In fact, 34% of all people who voted chose X as one of the three picks. Additionally, Classic Mega Man came in 9th with 967 votes, Bass.EXE came in 10th with 889 votes, Sigma came in 13th (barely falling behind Ryu (other Ryu)) with 790 votes, and MegaMan.EXE landed in 19th with 548 votes. But hey, great going X!
Of course, gotta be Mr. Killjoy now and reiterate this was not an official Capcom poll, and does not have any official bearing on future DLC choices. However, should Capcom look to fan feedback in making a selection, I’d say X has a pretty strong resume.
But hey, we can still discuss it. Now that we know Mega Man X is the top pick among voting fans, just which Mega Man X would you like to see? His usual form? Perhaps his slimmed down X8 form? Maybe his stealthy Command Mission form? Or how about one of any number of armors? How do you see X being a formidable opponent?
Thanks for the tip, Racerman!

X from X-X7 for sure!
I am Racerman, and I just wanted to say.
Capcom has noticed the poll, and has been following the polls. So there is a chance it may have an official bearing on the up-and-coming DLC releases. Whether this will be true or not remains to be seen, but the important point is this: Capcom has noticed, Capcom KNOWS what we want. So if they listen, X will get the go ahead, and we can all die happy.
In other news. Venom won the Marvel vote for mos popular character, and if they deal with him, Capcom better take notes from Shuma Gorath’s programming in order to make him possible.
YES! XD
Even if Capcom didn’t endorse this poll (although they are aware of it)…
… the idea… the notion… the FACT that X IS indeed the top pic in the second round… is so Mega-C00L that I just can’t sit still! XD
@Ultimate_Zero:
I agree, hands down! And maybe during a special attack, he can sport one of the armors for a few seconds! LOL… Just an idea.
:3
I agree, X from MMX1-7 is good, please oh please no X8 or Command Mission X. Maybe one of X’s hyper combos can be like Arthur’s where X can get his upgraded armor from X1 and be able to move faster and charge bigger stronger shots.
I know I’ll probably be bricked for this, but I’d love to see X don the Angel Armor that Copy X wears during the first battle in Mega Man Zero. I love that armor, and if Capcom chose that, they could claim that they never lied when they said X wasn’t in the game, as this is Copy X. Not sure how anyone else would react though.
Imagine that finisher though. X turning into Seraph X for a bombardment of pain.
But if I had to pick from the X series, then X1 all the way. X8 is okay, and I like Command Mission’s style, but I would want the original look and feel.
Personally, i think MegaMan X from X1 – 7 would be best, in order to match Zero. If anything, his Command Mission form, or his Slimmed down X8 form could be DLC costumes for X and Zero.
A friend suggested that Classic MegaMan be a DLC costume for X. That could work, and it’d make a lot of people happy at the same time if you had hoped for Classic megaman
I don’t care what version is in, if Capcom decides to put him in at all.
Hell, it could be the sissy poncho dude from the Zero series.
… Okay, joking with that. I’m good with X1-7, but the slim armor from X8 has grown on me. CM is too clunky looking, even if it looks BA.
If X is in at all, it would probably be the X1-7 ver, anyways.
But, yay, X won! Let’s hope he really does get in.
Go X! Here’s hoping…
I want “normal” X, but with MORE THAN ONE Super or something that gives him a different Armor for a while. He has so many, you can’t just give him one! Preferably from a different game for variety’s sake. Here’s looking forward to Shadow Armor!
Interesting to see Bass.exe do so well. I mean, making the Top 10? It’s a neat surprise, and he’d have some interesting moves for sure…
I wish Breath of Fire Ryu got higher than 12th, Breath of Fire really needs more attention. But still, wasn’t expecting him to do that well.
Am I the only one who loved X8′s slim style? As in loved it so much I think Yoshikawa should just be in charge of the X series from now on.
Anyway, sounds promising but 20 bucks says the creators make the same excuse for X as they did MegaMan.
I’d like to see him in his X1 armor. I’m afraid he might look too “plain” with all that blue..I don’t ever see anyone using the blue color scheme with Zero, and that’s even more spiffy than regular old X. So..X1 armor or the X4 ultimate armor.
Give him the Hadouken, too.
Any form is awesome for me. Be it X1-X7, or X8. But I want the Ultimate Armor as the final attack.
Well, this is an interesting development…
If X does indeed make it in as DLC, I suspect he’ll play a lot like Megaman did in MvC 1 & 2.
As for his Hyper Combo, depending on what his standard costume is, I foresee it being one of these two:
If it’s his X -X7 incarnation or his X8 incarnation, we could very well get X’s Nova Strike for his Hyper Combo.
If it’s his Command Mission incarnation, We would get… Well, the Nova Strike… Or as I prefer to call it, the One-Man spam attack. I can see this form making it in, in all honesty, since Megaman’s Hyper Combo consisted of him bulking up and unloading every single weapon he had. The CM Ultimate Armor essentially serves the same function for X.
If X’s X-X7 form is indeed too plain, especially compared to the other characters, then the Command Mission incarnation is a possibility. I just can’t, however, see him in his X8 incarnation; It’d be too much of a contrast in looks between him and Zero.
Personally, I like his regular armos best. I mean, it is so classic that you can’t argue with its awesomeness!
But, since Zero has a color scheme that looks like him and the regular armor is way too simple, he should use his Command Mission form, ‘cuz, I have to admit, is really cool!
Has to be X1-X7 attire or else it’s game over, in my opinion ^^; Maybe when you use the X-factor, he can be temporarily upped to his X4 Ultimate Armor? Possibly a bit more work to throw it together, but it would solve him looking so plain, and definitely be pretty BA to boot.
All I know is that it better happen and happen soon, because my friends are sick of my running around as Zero with his silly-looking X paint job!
Also kind of excited that Bass.EXE was voted for so much seemingly out of nowhere. I know it would be another Megaman character, but man oh man, that’d be interesting (same to Sigma, but I honestly just want to play X/Zero/Sigma)
@ SeraphMan:
I’d love to see X in his Copy X form as well. It’d give a new rep from a different MegaMan series. His entrance will have him warping to the fight area, say something X or Copy X like “You are an interesting individual… As I thought you might be.”, and donning his Ultimate armor before the fight. his hyper combos could be a rapid fire of his element shots, that move where he emits light from his body and heals himself, and turning into his Seraph form. Perhaps he could use the moveset of the Four Guardians to. Though I’ll admit I was going for O.G. MegaMan.
@MXsora
No, you’re not, I like the X8 style too. XD I’d probably prefer X-X7 look for the character since it’s most recognizable to me, but the X8 version and Copy-X would get no complaints from me. ;P
Man, the fact that X even got so many votes is awesome, whether or not he’s actually included. The X series is my favorite of all the Megaman series, so the thought of him being included as a DLC is exciting. :B
If he did end up in the game, switching between all of his different outfits would be good.
I mentioned this on the whole art post yesterday, but I think he’s gonna have that hyper move megamane had except with like that armor in command mission
Looks like there are many choices for looks.
Regular without armor, white armor such as the X1 or X4 ones, or his cool appearance in Command Mission with the scarf and all, or Copy X’s awesome armor.
But I bet that if they put X in, it just would HAVE to be his regular un-armored X1-X7 appearance, since that’s how everyone remembers him being like… Or maybe if he had the regular armor for the intro/win but had one armor during the fight.
There’s the alternate colors in MvC3, but they’re just palette swaps, not actual costumes, aside from the DLC ones. I don’t think they would make an exception just for X to put all those armors. They could easily make up DLC costumes for him, though.
inb4 the megaman DLC for MvC3 being Wily machine.
I would say that Mega Man X from X2 in his armor would be the best X for MvC3. Since it already comes with a pretty cool super move already built into the armor.
I have to agree, the X2 armor is one of my favorites. Having a double charge shot would be an interesting edge. X4′s Ultimate Armor would also be fun to play as though, with its Nova Strike attack.
But I kind of must admit, I wouldn’t mind seeing his Command Mission form either, just for the uniqueness of it. I’m not even a real big fan of CM, but the armor would like pretty sweet in MVC3 style.
Casshern-like moveset with buster extensions.
Hyper 1-Ima firin mah lazar.
Hyper 2-Get a random armor from X1-4.
Hyper 3-Nova strike, with power depending on whether you are in armor or not. The same going for the Hyper 1.
Do it. Do it NOW Capcom.
Well, this is indeed an interesting development now, isn’t it? Anyway, the important matter is that one version of the Blue Bomber did get noticed, so I’m happy there.
As for character looks, while I also like the Command Mission, X8, and to extent, the Copy X looks, I’ll have to follow the common agreement that the X-X7 versions have to be the main design with the other versions of X as alternate costumes if at all possible.
As for X’s armor choice, I’m not to sure how I would go about it, so I think I’ll be safe and say that either the X2 or X4 armors would be good choices. On the subject of moves, I’d would like to know which weapons from the X series would make good special or super moves. The Storm Tornado would be a good first choice, but I wonder if there could be other choices or if X even needs to have them, just for conversation’s sake. Otherwise, it should be the usual X-Buster move, Armor Upgrade, and Nova Strike (level 3) speical and/or supers; maybe with yet another version of the Shoryuken since X also had his version of the move.
Then again, I’m probably thinking way too far ahead of myself.
Was X on top in the first poll?
Well, I think it would be cool if he can swap armor continuously to suit each move he made (like how he did it in Megaman X3 opening)
I think it might be cool if he could perform sort of “style shifts” like Gen from Street Fighter, among others, and switch between armors.
Regarding the X8 style suggestion, I’ve nothing against it, but I wouldn’t want it here, simply because it would seemingly clash with Zero’s style. I’d rather the two be a matching pair, so to speak.
–LBD “Nytetrayn”
I have a great idea: Use the Slim X8 Version but with the Command Mission Armor! It’s the best of both worlds!
But then instead of different colors, he can have different armors.
Not really surprised that X won, but way to go, X. =P It’s pretty cool to see Forte.EXE at #10, though. Yay, Forte. =3
i think COPY X would be the shiznit! haha in-game he will be a mixture of zero/wesker witha buster!
I’m guessing no one liked the armor choices of X5 and X6. Then again in my opinion the X2 armor is the best around and nothing is going to keep X down with that on. Playing as Copy X? Hmmm. Will I get my favorite studders? XD
X with a Kyo Kusanagi-like moveset would be so badass.
@Lumine1412
Unlikely at best. Remember that X needs to have three alternate colours right off the bat, and swapping colours in the middle of a battle when there are two X’s fighting each other would be really confusing.
In regards to which version of X (should he get in), it should be his latest incarnation, which would be the slimmed down version from X8.
They can use his “regular” design (the one used for X ~ X7) as an alternate costume. The same for the Command Mission version. Another costume could be the Copy-X form from the MegaMan Zero & Mega Man ZX series.
Speaking of that, Zero’s alternate costumes via DLC should be:
- MegaMan Zero version
- MegaMan X Command Mission version
- MegaMan ZX version (aka Model Z)
Command Mission X was AWESOME.
It could be a special combo thingamajigg to turn into Ultimate Armor.
And Suiton, his appearance in Rockman Online would be his latest
which is X-X7.
The aesthetics on X is what I would be concerned about as well. What do you guys think his fighting stance should be?
I think X-X7 is too boring (especially X7). X8 has him with a “seasoned veteran who’s seen it all” stance, and Command Mission is just awesome. Bouncing back and forth, ready to kick some ass.
X-X7 possure was all he had as a stance if we go by original appearence. The X8 stance was good ,but felt awkward at times. Then there his command mission stance which I thought was a nice touch ,but in fighting game he’d be doing more moving than standing there looking cool in that stance.
The slim versions of the protagonists were just creepy.
MegaMan designs are know for their rounded(/clunky) shapes and sharp edges. Not those slim designs from X8. Glad they dropped that in Command Mission and RO.
what about model X form of X?
or even MMZ version of X, they’re pretty similar, but different enough to:
represent another game
not look too similar to Zero with X’s color scheme
also, Giro should be Zero’s alternate costume!
I had a dream where they added a DLC pack of Fefnir/Harpuia/Leviathan/Phantom.. that would be amazing.
@HeatPhoenix: =o Creepy? Really? I thought they looked a lot more practical. I love the pointed designs and huge robot feet in the first art style, but it’s actually a very inefficient design for a robot. Then again, logic and Megamanz rarely ever mix. XD
@Alex: *u* I want your dream then! That’d be friggin’ awesome. Actually, there are a lot of Megaman characters with different enough fighting styles to just make a Megaman fighting game out of, methinks.
Shadow armor or blade armor X6. ultimate suit is not reasonable.
@glitchy
Well, not CREEPY. It was alright, but it’s probably also how the game changed a few things that I didn’t like that is skewing my opinion.
@ZeroNJehuty
NOVA STRIKE!
I think X-X7 would be the best, with various armors for his hyper combos. But, more than seeing X put in, I want MegaMan Zero. If he should arrive on the marketplace, I will never ever again use Zero’s X2/X3 form. Jus’ sayin’.
