Kotobukiya Reveals Zero as Next Model Kit

After Blues came out, it seemed uncertain what Kotobukiya would tackle next, if anything at all. But the Winter 2011 Wonder Festival has an unexpected answer. Kotobukiya’s next model kit foray will be Zero. And that is, specifically, Zero of the Mega Man Zero variety.

Price and release date info will be forthcoming (a general release frame is available, but it’s covered in this picture sadly. Update: The kit is planned to release this summer.

  1. Myself says:

    I don’t even like MegaMan Zero looks…
I kind of wished their next model kit to be NORMAL Zero.

    >:

  2. Green says:

    HORY SET

  3. Axl-fox says:

Am I the only one thinking is starting to become a really overrated character?

  4. forteman says:

Zero is overrated! I wanted an awesome Forte model kit

  5. Heat Man says:

Maybe overrated, but he definitely sells. I would have hoped for Legends myself, since the series has never really had a definitive line of figures/kits. It’d be kind of relevant too. But Zero with the Kotobukiya craftsmanship could still be pretty cool.

  6. Marco says:

Though I really prefer the Zero-style, I would’ve liked them to tackle the X-style Zero. I can’t think of any good figures for the latter.

  7. Glitcher says:

Glad to see Kotobukiya’s still at work. Personally, I’d like to see a ZX figure, which I don’t believe has been attempted before. Grey or Ashe please…

  8. VileMKII says:

Odd of them to skip to Zero and not do at least Bass. Bass sells just as well. Oh well, in due time.

  9. Sammy says:

Too bad they’re not gunna do a Bass figure. But, to me, this is happiness in a can.

Or would it be a box?

  10. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. RMZX Anarchy says:

    They might still do Forte.

Hopefully after this we can get some new Rockman Dash stuff seeing as DASH 3 is coming out.

Now that we are getting MMZ Zero, Copy X next? 4 Guardians? Some ZX Stuff?

  12. rockmanandroll says:

Four Guardians, hopefully. A Harpuia model would be boss.

And the Zero (X style) Mega Armor models were rather decent, I thought. I know I enjoy mine.

  13. Tabby says:

    Oohh.. Ciel model too, plzkthanks.

  14. Hukuzo says:

It will be mine. Oh, yes. It will be mine.

  15. Dr. Jerk says:

Here’s a thought, maybe they’re doing Zero-series Zero as Bandai might do X-series Zero.

You have to admit, they both have very similar figures.

  16. Gandkaidos says:

    *kicks the air* BOOYAH!

  17. rnn says:

Honestly? I suppose business is business.

  18. NovaMan XP says:

    … eh.

MMZ Zero was the last person I was expecting. I was expecting Bass or Duo…

  19. Airman says:

Yes, Bass Model please. However MMZ Zero is pretty cool too.

  20. Wave says:

YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!! And I can’t believe it’s gonna be the Megaman Zero version!!

  21. mainfinger says:

This seems like a really odd choice. I’m still all over it. I enjoyed the Zero series quite a bit.

I never even thought of the possibility of a Legends set until Heat Man mentioned it. I’d actually love that. My Tron Bonne statue could use some company.

As far as people wanting the original Zero, I’m guessing a D-Arts Zero figure will probably come out after X.

  22. Duckaiser says:

I’m with Tabby on this, a Ciel model would be awesome! Here’s hoping…

  23. . says:

1/10th scale should tower over the other three by a whole 3~4cm

  24. AdventAxl says:

    *starts foaming at the mouth*

  25. Glitcher says:

The Roll kit is 1/10th scale and it measures 5 inches. Since Zero is taller than her, a kit of him in the same scale should be twice as big (although it probably won’t be).

  26. andromeda says:

awesome, but i think i’ll hold out to see if a d-arts zero is released

  27. El Rodrigo says:

I would have liked to see an X series Zero myself, but this is a’ight.

  28. none says:

Goddamnit we don’t need more Zero worship

  29. HeatPhoenix says:

Yeah we do, but where’s X

  30. Gaia says:

Same. If you are gonna hop the “Zero Figure Bandwagon”; why not some major NPCs to boot?

Next company mentions they are gonna make Zero I’m personally gonna have my Megatron to kick some Jazwares Zero ass.

  31. HeatPhoenix says:

We need Forte/X/Zero (X)/Dr.Wily/Dr.Light/Rush (With adapters for Rockman)/Axl/Enker/a few really cool robotmasters.

And then, then I am satisfied.

  32. CactaurMan36 says:

YESYESYESYESYESYSESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES! (Did I mention this makes me super excited?)

  33. Tornado Man says:

I’m surprised we haven’t seen a quick cutman cash in yet. Zero is cool IMHO.

  34. Splashman says:

    YES!!
    My wallet: NOOOOO!!

  35. Musashi234 says:

    HOLY CRAP YESSSSSS

  36. MMZ says:

Another Zero from Megaman Zero, its been done already… so many times now, Kotobukiya should of sticked to Bass, Duo, Rush, the X series, things like that. Personally i think Kotobukiya just jumped to the Zero series just for money, because we all know how everyone wants those Megaman Zero resin kits. I guess this kit coming is for those who can’t afford the real resins and also those who can’t do more than just easy cut, snap together, and apply stickers.

  37. MMZ says:

And those saying YES! and excited are those who i’m talking about. But come on Kotobukiya, your leaving out Megaman’s trusty side sick Rush. Do a Rush that can change into Megaman’s jet armor and other modes, a Bass and then Treble who can also combine with Bass to form his armor. Sigma would of been way better too! We need villains not good guys!

  38. Megaman fan says:

I think Kotobukiya just jumped to Zero because Bandai already claimed to doing X and then Zero later on from the X series. Looks like Kotobukiya and Bandai are competing for the characters. Kotobukiya should of just sticked to the time line of the Megaman story because skipping to Zero from the Zero series kinda shows that they just doing it for the money business.

  39. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

@MMZ: You should know that some people have no way to get those resin kits. So this is the best choice for those guys (like me). Too bad my wallet won’t allow it til a later time.

  40. glitchy says:

D: What’s with all the Zero hate and saying it’s been done before? An official RMZ Zero model kit has never been done before. You’re thinking of the Wonder Fest garage kits that are made in quantities of about 30 and easily cost you 10000Yen or more to get just one, if you can even find one in the first place! DX

Seriously, the Zero hate is getting old. I really do understand where all of you are coming from since I want kits of other characters too, but be realistic. Zero is the safest option for a RMZ related kit, and if Zero of all characters doesn’t sell well, then it’s goodbye to the chance of seeing other characters. ._.

  41. Bruce says:

While it does seem odd that they’re jumping to Zero from the MM Zero series, you have to admit that Kotobukiya is giving a lot of care & love to these model kits.

Speaking of which, I had asked the Kotobukiya U.S. division (a ‘la Facebook) if the other characters (such as Bass, Auto, the Robot Masters, or Dr. Light) will be added to this series, and this is what they said:

“Certainly the possibility exists; it really depends on how well this first series is received by the fans and collecting community.”

So don’t give up hope for that 1/10 scale Bass model kit just yet, kids!

  42. Glitcher says:

Why is there another bloke here whose username is Glitchy? Is he, like, a Mini-Me? o_O

  43. glitchy says:

Hooray! It’s my male half! 8D

Nah, it has nothing to do with you. Just happens to be my username too. Yay for coincidences. :B

  44. Suraida-Chan says:

I don’t mind this version of Zero, since I do like the Zero series. I just hope that a Forte model kit will come one day, though. =P

  45. VileMKII says:

    Craft. That is all.

  46. Deva-Princess says:

I really, really hope they make a Leviathan model kit, I would buy it in an instant!

  47. Nyoro-kun says:

I myself (like other people) would have like to see Bass being next in production, but I don’t mind some Zero from the Zero games sharing a spot.

And the reason why they didn’t go to the X series is simple, Capcom handed the license to Bandai (in agreements) to produce the respective characters (X and Zero); if Capcom would then give the license to Kotobukiya, it would be a violation of their contract with Bandai (depending the years they negociated to license) resulting in accusations and court time (don’t think Ace Attorney is able to help).

Also yes on the Ciel and Legends kit!
