And to clarify for people who don’t seem to get it, this is a Korea Only MMORPG for PC.

  2. HeatPhoenix says:

    @Ash Paulsen

    Broham
    1) You haven’t even touched the game yourself, I don’t think you can call it awkward or unrefined by just watching it
    2)This is pre-beta demo footage
    3)eternal dibs on Zero-type
4)It really doesn’t look like X8, more like X7 without cel shaded graphics

    Do you dislike MMOs?

  3. ZEROmaverick says:

I’d like to have a customization option, to create my own reploid based on classes or weapons usage.

    That’d be cool!!

  4. M.A. says:

1:24 is the boss Mega Scorpia from Mega Man Zero 2. And the Zero slashing it in 1:27 – 28 is Zero from X series transforming into his RMOnline-version armor, not the Zero from Zero series. Try to pause the video in the perfect timing as I’ve given above.

And I really hope Rockman Online gets released worldwide, but who knows.

  5. Mister_X says:

    @ DarkDreamT2:

Not quite. Sure, it’s in alpha right now, but the news of it being brought overseas has neither been confirmed or dis-confirmed. For all we know, translators are hard at work to get an english beta working once the korean beta is done.

  6. ZeroX_Syaoran says:

Wait, why is everybody saying that the keyboard controls are awkward? Just use the directional buttons and Z, X, C, V and other miscellaneous keys.

  7. Suroguner says:

This looks good, but my concern is that it’s too online dependent like WOW.

  8. Munchy says:

Game looks sloooooowwww. Also, QTEs in a Mega Man game? Is this what society has come to?

  9. Churzy says:

Looking good, moreso when taking into account it’s still in an early stage!

It’s a bit of a shame, however, that the player characters all look the same, and too similar to the legendary heroes. For an MMORPG, I would have gone with “generic” reploids that can be upgraded or modified to change their looks and abilities.

In any case, looks like something I’d give a try to, provided it ends up becoming available worldwide.

  10. Alilatias says:

For the people concerned about how easy this looks:

Remember that this is only a playable demo. For all we know, the advantage is massively skewed towards the player, and the ‘dying and reappearing in the same spot’ probably won’t make it into the actual game. G-STAR demos are usually like that.

A platformer RPG is a first for the Rockman franchise, and people that are interested have to get used to the idea first – kind of like how archaic Battle Network 1 was in comparison to the rest of the series.

  11. SolarMan says:

I would welcome remakes of the classic and X series using graphics like this.

  12. pedro says:

Here’s to hoping it will get released worldwide. From what i can see from the footage the in game armors of X and Zero look different in certain shots of the gameplay trailer. Also the gameplay demos that feature the armored versions of X and zero don’t look like the official art posted on the website which leads me to believe you may have some armor customization options that might make you look unique from others. So theres that going for it I think.

  13. Mister_X says:

@ pedro: That’s what I’m getting from the trailer as well. iirc, there was something in one of the earlier blog translations about the classes having armor that would alter their appearance as well as bolstering their defenses, enhancing attack, speed, etc….

In any case, it seems like there WILL be armor in this game that allows you to look different from others. My concern is this; is it as one whole set? Or will we be able to mix and match? Will there be set bonuses? Color customization?

So many questions… perhaps that can be addressed in future blog translations…

  14. KoaT says:

I know I haven’t tried it myself, and I know it’s early, but from what they’ve shown the game play looks to be a bit of a slow, easy, mindless, clunky, yawn fest. But there’s potential. And the art seems pretty sweet for the most part.

And those animated trailers! Maybe they should just forget about this whole game thing and just start producing an animated series. :)

  15. LimitlessX says:

Playing with a keyboard isn’t hard, I play X5 in pc and don’t have any problems.

  16. KoaT says:

Alright I watched the vids more thoroughly. Maybe I was a little harsh with my first impression. Maybe I’m not taking into account how the MMO style elements affect what’s going on. Got to wait for more info about all the aspects of the game.

Watching it is boring, anyway. :P

  17. KoaT says:

And if it turns out that it doesn’t support a controller, you can just download something like JoytoKey to bind the keyboard keys to the controller.

  18. Bob says:

    @Alilatias

“A platformer RPG is a first for the Rockman franchise”

Ever hear of Mega Man Network Transmission?

  19. Airman says:

As much as I love hearing about new Mega Man games, if it’s not coming to North America at all then I REALLY don’t care that much.

  20. Tiomasta says:

Oh hey, it’s MMX gameplay, but you can walk through enemies, and there’s potions and special attacks. I was thinking it was gonna be some adaptation in 3D. Good to see it’s not like MMX7, heh.

From the trailers it seems to be just too easy, but then again this isn’t even beta, just one of those demos. And those seem to be the first stages, too. And this is Mega Man, we wouldn’t be surprised if they used bosses again later as harder counterparts which is just that awesome.

The only thing that’s bugging me is some of the animations. I mean, look when he takes damage and flinches, he just… Stands there. Where’s that awesome sound? Where’s the big visual notifier?
And when he died to that Pharaoh Man, there was the explosion thing but his body was just floating in the air still.

And also, here’s a weird thing. They showed Duo in the overworld and in cutscenes in the middle of battle, but they didn’t show Duo actually fighting. You can see him along with Zero in the first vid at 1:06 just before the boss battle, indicating that he is functional, but they’re avoiding showing him.

I’m also curious about the armor stuff. Are they gonna be like, just full armors which you can swap (or just upgrade to later) or if it’s gonna be like, every piece is a different equipment and you can customize your character like that.

And someone said something about a 3D overworld. Look at the start of the first vid, that’s 3D alright.

  21. tedren says:

Pretty sure this is coming to the US.

If not they are sure to get TONS of hate mail.

  22. Indy Starry says:

Sting ate his Wheaties I see.

  23. Alex says:

This must come to the United States .. I need it

  24. Alilatias says:

@ Bob: How many of us actually played Transmission? >_>

  25. ZapBlaze says:

i just think it sucks that korea gets this and everyone else gets megaman universe…. talk about getting jipped…

  26. kaiquele says:
