Story Time with Rockman

As many of us will be busy gorging ourselves with patriotism and grilled meats tomorrow, here’s a little something easy going: a storybook with Rockman! This kids book from 1996, a “Nagaoka’s Li’l Picture Book,” contains references from Mega Man 6, Mega Man 7, and even Mega Man 2 for Game Boy.

I think what I love most about this story is how Rockman goes and sticks it to Dr. Wily unnecessarily. His goal was rescuing Roll, and it’s not implied he captures Wily after shooting him down. He just wanted to make it personal.

Short, but really cute. I still love picture books such as these to this day.

  2. NovaMan XP says:

Unrelated to this but, on Adult Swim just a few minutes ago, Adult Swim listed Dr. Wily as one of the people they’d love to fistfight…

I had no idea they made these picture books! It looks cute and the story’s not half bad! Are there any more? :D ?

  4. N-Mario says:

Brainwashed? Wasn’t PlantMan a Robot Master that entered some world grand tournament in MM6? Don’t think the robot masters were brainwashed in MM6, just that some Mysterious Mr.X (Spoilers of his true identity left out) held something to bring 8 robot masters together to fight.
But I suppose with this story book, they wanted to go in a different direction with it. ;)
But yea, I like the art style. :)

  5. Omar says:

… what the hell does Plant Man do anyway? Like, what was his purpose for being built? Chill Man takes photographs and stuff, Concrete Man…. throws concrete..

But seriously, Plant Man can’t exist so he can grow pretty flowers or water plants, right? To whoever thought him up, your ideas are stupid.

  6. Dr. Jerk says:

Dr. Wily probably just used some kind of signal transmitter to brainwash Plant Man in this, which got disabled when Rockman defeated him for the hundredth or so time. No proof on that, but food for thought.

  7. Omar: This.

Looking at the last panel I wonder if Dr. Light’s name was supposed to be Dr. Right?

  9. Dr. Jerk says:

His name is supposed to be Dr. Right in the Japanese games… The Dr. signs in the original MM9 were even R’s before being changed to L’s for the overseas release.

    @Omar
No, Plantman can manipulate solar energy, you just got to play RM6 to learn that. So it wasn’t a stupid idea.

  11. Megafan100 says:

So you’re saying Nobuhiro Hoshino’s character design is stupid?! That’s harsh coming from someone who’s supposed to be a Mega Man fan, Omar. You should at least check around the site for more info on the Robot Masters and other characters because TMMN has almost all the info we need and want (thank you very much, staff).

  12. Proto Stryker says:

@N-Mario: Actually, they were brainwashed after becoming finalists in the world tournament of robot masters. “Mr. X” took control of them before the finals and sent them after Mega Man.

Why not take control of all the participants and send them after Mega Man? Or all of them and Mega Man? I think we can chalk that up to a Dr. Wily folly.

    PlantMan rules

Plantman at the end is extreamly adorble there. It is a cute book.

no offense guys, but the wiki here is a little meh. Maybe I can check obscure MM info without getting viruses for once if it was better(seriously, that gets on my nerves about wikias.)
in any case, I too wonder if there were other RM picture books made.

wow really impressive,I loved even that was very short but is too cool, thanks :)
