Cast Your Vote in the Capcom Retro Idol Finals!

It has been a long road for the contestants in the Capcom Retro Idol contest, and now, only three games remain: Mega Man X, Street Fighter II, and Mega Man 2. Three of Capcom’s mightiest titles from yesteryear, but in the end, there can only be one winner.

…that is, unless there is a tie. In which case, we really don’t know how they plan to handle that.

In any case, those are the three chosen. Previously, Mega Man X carried a somewhat surprising lead over Street Fighter II, with 40 percent and 27 percent, respectively (Mega Man 2 had 12 percent).

The time to vote is now, and the place is here on Capcom Unity.

Will the Blue Bomber succeed? His fate is in your hands.

    -_-

And the winner is Mega Man X. Sf2 Does not have anything on it!

  2. HeatPhoenix says:

We´re gonna lose due to split voting, seeing how X is ahead

Everyone vote for X not MM2

  3. ker-plop says:

Is anyone else getting transferred to a broken Rapidshare page when they try to go to Capcom Unity?

  4. MarthKoopa says:

Huh… kinda odd that Mega Man X would beat Mega Man 2 in retroness.

  5. Duckaiser says:

It’s so interesting seeing Mega Man X beating Street Fighter 2!

  6. Vucious Creed says:

Are some of you really all that surprised? Speaking from opinion, of course, I think the reason that X is winning over SF2 and more so in the case of MM2 is the usual cry for a new game in the series. Think about it.

Street Fighter recently had Super Street Fighter IV and just Street Fighter IV before then. Also, the classic Megaman series had MM9/10. Perhaps having X in the lead is a yet another form (albeit likely a minor one overall) for an X9. If you put it in that context, the results make sense. Then again, this could be just thinking about it a bit too much. Anyway, as long a Megaman title wins, it’s all good to me.

  7. Indy Starry says:

Seems like a one sided poll. Two Megaman s and one Street Fighter.

There are other capom characters that do need to make a comback. Strider is one of them.

I’d vote if there were more options.

  8. Lumine1412 says:

Well, rigth now, if you visit the comment page on the voting section, you can see streamless of all out war between rage SF fan boy and MMX voter who is angry at the Megaman 2 voter

Our biggest voting resource will come to the Megaman 2 voter. and apparently, they are not being very supportive
And like Vulcious said, that’s exactly why we should vote for MMX

  9. Indy Starry says:

I think the poll is stupid in my opinion.

I mean. It should went with something like…

    “Megaman Series”
    “Street Fighter Series”
    “Other Capcom Franchise”

Rather than throwing Two Megamans and a Fightin’ game together.

  10. Proto Stryker says:

@Indy: That was based on how the previous voting went. It’s not like Capcom was all “let’s split the Mega Man voters”.

And from what I understand, X has a damn good chance of winning anyway, so I’m not worried. Also, you should go ahead and vote your support. Strider was previously in the running, but he didn’t make it. (Because Mega Man is that awesome.)

    So go vote!

  11. pstart says:

You go MegaMan X for everlasting glory

  12. Indy Starry says:

I ratehr vote for X. I do like MM2, but X is still a solid game. Even with the epic music.

  13. mizzter ninja says:

    quick! everyone vote for mmx[:

  14. Airman says:

It was the first Mega Man game I ever played and remains my favourite one to this day………GO MEGA MAN 2!!!!!!!! Those of you here spouting go X boo MM2 can suck it.

I am not saying that I didn’t like X, I absolutely loved it (especially X1) but this is retro we’re talking here, X is retro, but Mega Man 2 beats it by miles!

  15. Kind of a Troll says:

5 years doesn’t really “beat it by miles”.

I say X, because I’m getting sick and tired of MM2 always being the one brought up. Enough MM2. Take that played out Wily Stage 1 theme and shove it up your ass.

  16. Erico says:

I just hope that the “Random swag bag” has some good stuff in it.

    I like Mega Man swag.

  17. TJ says:

X seems like a Mega Man game that’s sure, interesting, but made too easy with wall-jumping and other things.

I find myself playing 2 more than X, but 10 more than 2. I’d say 2′s the way to go. X series just…doesn’t feel like Mega Man to me.

  18. MarthKoopa says:

I’m always hearing a lot of people complaining that wall jump makes X games too “easy”, but I don’t understand it. Wall jumping adds more depth and interesting platforming segments, but it doesn’t make the game easier.

The difficulty of classic Mega Man games is seriously overrated. They’re just as “difficult” as the X games (except X7 and X8, lol joke games)

  19. Indy Starry says:

‘I say X, because I’m getting sick and tired of MM2 always being the one brought up. Enough MM2. Take that played out Wily Stage 1 theme and shove it up your ass.”

I use to like the theme. Now I have grown sick of it.

  20. RedrazerZero says:

i don’t think the contest is about which is most retro, I think it’s a contest in the range of retro titles 16bit and lower.

Also X is king IMO, far surpasses MM2 in gameplay, and everything else for that matter, with the exception of classic-ness. So I’m goin with that.

  21. Gurp says:

I’m going for X, because in my opinion, 2 is way too overrated. The weapons are absolute s***e, most of the music besides Wily 1 (still too overrated) is bad, even compared to what 1 had to offer, and, the last, and most concrete evidence of all: Wily stage 4′s boss. I win.

  22. ProtoX says:

i’ll vote for X For Good Reasons
1: The Gameplay is actually easy
2: Alternite Sene With Death Of Zero
3: The Secrct Hadoken X Capsle
4: A lot Of The Stages Such As Sigma Stage 2 Has Refernces To Megaman 7′s Wily Stage 1, Even The Mettars And The One Bat In Armor Armodillo Which Gives the One.
5 : They Started The Series in 16-Bit And Evolved Into 32-Bit 3D Features After It.

  23. Politian says:

Its nice to know how much hatred Megaman 2 is getting these days, popularity sucks huh? Its not the most solid megaman game obviously compared to later installments but some of you guys make it sound like its the worst game in the series. And Gurp, the music is bad of all things? I think you really were stuck on Wily Stage 4 for too long, and if you weren’t, then you should really listen a little harder to all of the 8 stage themes again.

  24. Kind of a Troll says:

What the hell are you talking about? Gurp is the only one hating. And I’m the only other one to mention is being overrated. Where are all these guys you are talking about?

  25. Politian says:

    @ Kind of a Troll

I didn’t say a great deal of people disliked Megaman 2 or considered it overrated, I only said some, as in, a few. However, almost every time Megaman 2 is brought up somewhere on this website, whether in the news or in the comments, there is always at least one or more comments saying it is a over-rated game, often with a sense of disgust like Megaman 2 was bad medicine.
