New Details and Images on Rockman Online (Updated)
A new batch of info and images pertaining to the Korean game Rockman Online is released today. Most notable of all is that the game is more definitively using the Rockman X series, and so far stars Rockman X and Zero. However, there will be other NPCs. The game will employ 3D graphics but maintain a 2D perspective, much like Mega Man X8 did. The game is being described as an side-scrolling action-RPG, and is meant to feel like the original games. NeoWiz plans to releases screenshots of the game soon, which will also introduce more characters.

Update: Japanese site Nikkei Trendy has recently posted an interview with Capcom of Japan’s COO, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, about Capcom’s upcoming efforts concerning social games. Mr. Tsujimoto had this to say about Rockman Online‘s release strategy:
They (NeoWiz) had the desire to make an online Rockman game, and after examining their proposal, we came to the conclusion that they could make some interesting stuff.
First, it will be launched in South Korea. From there, it’s necessary to think about the development in Taiwan and China. Moreover, there are a great deal of Rockman fans in Japan as well. Though there are no plans currently, if Japanese gamers show interest in the game, the possibility to release it here exists.
So the game may not even release in Japan, much less the western hemisphere. But if you really want to see the game come, rally your support to Capcom!

Yes! Finally something new in the X series, even though it looks to be a region exclusive for now. Even if this isn’t brought over to the West, hopefully it’s a sign that MMX9/CM2/MHX2/Xtreme3 isn’t too far away.
why would they make Xtreme 3? X on the handhelds would manifest itself as either MHX2 or ZX3

WOW, When I looked at the first article, I literally shouted ‘F*CK!’ in real life. Damn, this…this is way too beautiful *Sniff Sniff* Screw Megaman X9 and Maverick Hunter X2, this is what I wanted for the next upcoming X game!
I wonder how this will play out online. It would be nice to see some more main characters in the series.

I see this as their way of doing MegaMan X9 and having the story focus on the 100 years between the X series and the Zero series. This would be a perfect way…or maybe its more of what I would want…but either way this sounds way cool, and I will get this no matter what.

The MHX series is a remake series, while the ZX series is a separate series altogether. Another Xtreme game would most likely be the telling of a new tale in the X series during a period within the main games’ time line, much in the same vein as the GB MM games. However it’s unlikely that Capcom would go back to the Xtreme series. I was just throwing ideas around.
Not interested, i wanna see megaman x9 with snes or psx graphics.

As I’ve said before in the previous Rockman Online news, I’m Korean but I live in America. I’d like to give this MM(X)O a try since I love the X series, but if it never makes it to the west, well, that would be a real bummer. ): We’ll just have to wait next year after its release on March (Who knows just how long it’ll take to bring it over if there were plans to bring it overseas?). I love the artwork! And I happen to like cutesies so who cares if X and Zero look cute (although, yeah, they’re supposed to look serious)? It’s an MM(X)O not made by Capcom, right? I can hardly wait! I’m usually the patient type but seeing this news made me so excited I can barely sit still!
I can’t help but notice a few funny things (shorter list made here). Yeah, I can see how Zero’s fingers are positioned (and the Mega Man Finger Phenomenon strikes again!). And the individual Zero illustration looks like it’s been flipped because the “Z” emblem is backwards and on Zero’s right shoulder armor instead of his left. About the top artwork, the left shoulder armor is positioned more at a top-view angle (while the right one is in a side-view angle) so obviously it would be impossible to see the “Z” emblem anyway.

OH MY GOD… this could be so cool… Immagine if they released it for DSIWARE (to **** up piratisation) OR that you could pay the subscription with Nintendo Points Card … instant win. The game should be cheap, like 800 points or less.But the subscription for the ONLINE community (with all cool features of the DSi – mic./cam.) should be no more than 500 pts per month.
Ah yes,a man can dream… and i’m going to tell you another thing: I feel like a kid right now,talking about Mega Man… I just loved Battle Network 5 DS and the MM ZX/ZX Advent + Zero (1,2,3,4).
