Some More of the Mega Man Killers (Updated)
Posted on March 23rd, 2010 by Heat Man
The news of the special stages and the Mega Man Killers are reaching the Japanese side of gaming news, and we have some more screens as well as full body art of the Mega Man Killers courtesy of 4Gamer.net. I’m really loving how the special stages are “retakes” of the corresponding Game Boy stages, even going so far as to use the same graphic tiles. I do question some of the coloring, however. For more news on the special stage DLC, check our original post.
Update: Here’s some even higher quality pics, as well as some additional screens not in the 4Gamer.net report.

I’m really happy that Capcom decided to use these characters again.
I would have loved to see Sunstar again.
Just one thing. If these special bosses are in the special Time Attack stages only, you shouldn’t technically be able to obtain their weapons. So the shots of Mega Man using their weapons, those must be the work of hackers, but that’s just a well-reasoned guess.
I’m also glad they skipped on Quint. Any trace of the aberration that was MMII GB is better left out.
I wonder if, for Mega Man 11, the three guys from the Wily Wars will be available (Buster Rod G., etc). Even better would be a straight 8 bit port of Wily Tower; that’s DLC I could get behind.

Uh, what’s your reasoning? You shouldn’t “technically” be able to obtain their weapons? Who made that rule? Just because you couldn’t get Fake Man’s weapon in Mega Man 9 doesn’t make it a rule that you can’t obtain the Mega Man Killers’ weapons in Mega Man 10. It’s been well-known for awhile that you get their weapons to use in the main game after beating them, and the screenshots OFFICIALLY RELEASED BY CAPCOM yesterday even revealed as much.
I just look at it as Capcom giving us a little more bang and mileage out of the extra buck we’re spending on the DLC. Instead of just three extra stages and boss fights, we get three extra stages, boss fights, and special weapons to play around with.
Besides, Fake Man didn’t necessarily have a special weapon to begin with (he certainly didn’t seem to anyway, he was a pretty crappy boss as it was). Considering that Enker, Punk, and Ballade all have special weapons we’ve seen and that were established long ago, it’d be a lot fishier and less acceptable for Capcom not to let us use them after beating them. Mega Man’s already used them in the past, after all.
Ohohohhh crap. I see some familiar missiles in what I’m assuming is Ballade’s level.
I hope they aren’t gonna bring back one of MMIV’s delightful “run for your life” sequences…
I love how their stages seem to be reminescents of their original GB stages.
If you look really closely, Ballade has the finger-thing going on.
Mm. I get the feeling these levels will be hard. They should also be far better than the MM9 special stage, a glorified miniboss gauntlet.
The weapons alone will make this a must-have!
Does anyone know if you can keep their weapons in the main game yet or not?

It would appear that you can.
There were three open slots in the weapons select screen. And now we know why. w0000000t
The only question is, will we have them automatically upon starting a new file, earn them throughout the game spaced apart, have to search for them, or what? The levels being added to the game would be awesome but I think highly unlikely, for what it’d do to all clear.
Also, is it me, or does the purple segment of Enker’s level (which looks to me like vanish blocks) indicate that Wily’s space station from MM1 was also integrated into it?
Looks like Enker will be as easy as always…but Ballade…
Why? Why did it have to be the missiles?
I’m still wondering about that Roll head image found in the data.
I wonder if Ballade will go into his super form
@LaZodiac: MM10 was heavily edited off of MM9, so it does apparently have a lot of unused sprites from 9. Roll’s head would be one of them.
You mean when he busts out the shades?
The one thing that gets me is this: if Mega Man is allowed to use the MM Killer weapons when we start a new game, then that would completely wreck the challenge level (especially if the Screw Crusher still has its nigh-infinite ammo supply). On the other hand, NOT having the weapons for the main game would be seen as a cop-out.
My theory is that, just like in MMX2 with the X-Hunters, a randomly-selected MM Killer will appear in place of a stage’s miniboss (assuming the stage you choose has one). After you beat the MM Killer and the stage’s Robot Master, you get both their weapons, but if you leave the stage before clearing it, you get nothing. Obviously, you have to download each MM Killer’s corresponding stage first before he’ll start appearing.
@LaZodiac: Didn’t hackers determine that the sprites and tiles were just lifted and altered from MM9? They probably just didn’t bother to mess with that one, which was in 9.
WOW Hahahaha Sukoi!!
I say, those revamped GB tracks are awesome!
