Inti Creates has now put up their own page for the Rockman 10 Original Soundtrack, and we have some more details concerning the album’s 12 page booklet. It will contain commentary from 10’s producer Hironobu Takeshita, 10’s director Hayato Tsuru, and 10’s sound producer Ippo Yamada. It will also contain a bit of official artwork, as well as guest artwork and commentary by manga artist Shigeto Ikehara.

Incidentally, Rockman 10’s music production team contains musicians from throughout the span of the series, and along with Inti Create’s own sound team it has work by Manami Matsumae (Rockman 1 and 2), Yasuaki Fujita (Rockman 3 and 4), Minae Fujii (Rockman 4), Mari Yamaguchi (Rockman 5), Yuuko Takehara (Rockman 6 and 7), Makoto Tomozawa (Rockman 7), Shusaku Uchiyama (Rockman 8 ) and Akari Kaida (Rockman & Forte). Wow… that’s quite a lot of people for just one game!

Wow. I have a feeling this game will have a kick-ass soundtrack, even in 8-bit.

  2. MaverickHunterAsh says:

    @raymond645 -

“Even” in 8-bit? 8-bit/chiptune is a style or genre all its own. It’ll be a kick-ass soundtrack BECAUSE it’s 8-bit.

I wish someone at Capcom/Inti had **** up with this and accidentally made it so that we could catch a glimpse of one of Bass’ fins or something… anything to confirm he’s in the story.

I’m not even a hardcore Bass fan, but I just want so badly for (a) them to respect the series’ continuity and (b) to give us some sort of payoff for the clearly intentional plot point that Bass was receiving “upgrades” or whatever during Mega Man 9.

But you know there has to be a couple good reasons they didn’t reveal the entire track list already. They could have revealed none of the track list, but they chose to reveal SOME. That means there’s stuff that they specifically don’t want us to know about.

This soundtrack looks really kick ass too, by the way. God, leave it up to Capcom to re-ignite my hopes for Mega Man 10. Just a couple weeks ago I was scared it would be little more than a Mega Man 9 rehash, but now I’m wide-eyed and hopeful all over again in anticipation of a really kick-ass, stand-apart Mega Man 10. Gah, so excited!

  4. DuoDynamo says:

Oh, crap. I can’t wait for some samples to come out.

  5. Woah, the composers from every main game until now working on the Mega Man 10 soundtrack?

That’s fantastic! I can’t wait to hear what Mega Man 10 has in store in terms of music. What I’ve heard already is pretty awesome!

  6. Harpu says:

Haven’t you guys visited the megaman 10 website? The official one, it has music playing on it in a preview mixtape style.

If the websites music is anything to go on, I am unimpressed. From what I have heard from the website, megaman 10’s music seems to be lacking any special kick in the songs that have played on the page.

  7. MaverickHunterAsh says:

    Harpu –

I’m sure most of us have, and I feel the opposite. I love all the music I’ve heard so far on the website, especially what we now know is Strike Man’s stage theme. I also love the menu theme.

  8. PStart says:

Trailer music so far is my fave

Can’t wait to hear it all!

  9. MaverickHunterAsh says:

    Oops, sorry… forgot I can’t swear here.

Anyway, there’s a VERY interesting discusson about/analysis of this image going on over at Protodude’s Rockman Corner, and I thought I’d bring it over here as well because I think we may be onto a pretty big lead concerning Bass being in Mega Man 10. Credit goes to WanderingMind for first discovering this possible evidence, especially if it ends up being accurate!

    Copied and pasted from PRC:

Oh, and as for “a glimpse of one of Bass’s fins”… This could be nothing at all, but check out the second and third pages, which join together left-right to read ‘ROCKMAN 10′ across the top. We’ve got ProtoMan on the left (under ROCK), MegaMan in the middle, and then… a little yellowish arc from someone being blocked out by a Photoshopped-in black rectangle.

    MaverickHunterAsh -
But about Bass… damn. You can’t deny that. The color is RIGHT on for Bass’ fins, too. And why would there be a black box photoshopped in there? I mean it definitely isn’t confirmation, but it’s a promising find. We know it isn’t Proto Man’s scarf, at least.

    Protodude -
I think the yellowish arc might simply be Proto’s scarf :)

    MaverickHunterAsh -
I’m actually pretty sure it isn’t his scarf. Here’s why: see the top of the second page of the soundtrack booklet? Whatever piece of art that is of Proto Man, we can already clearly see his scarf drawn off the top of the page.

Since we know that pages two and three join to form a complete picture of the earth and we know that Proto Man is on the left and Mega Man is in the middle, that can’t be a piece of Proto Man’s scarf on the covered-up right-hand side of page 3. I’ve looked at the drawings of Proto Man for Mega Man 9 and 10, and his scarf simply isn’t long enough to make it to the right side of page 3; plus, we know the scarf is already drawn going off the top of page 2.

I’ve also determined that that yellow arc can’t be any part of the Earth’s edge either, because you can see the top of the Earth on page 3 and it doesn’t curve down at a logical angle that would put it in line with that mysterious yellow arc.

Therefore, whatever or whoever is on the right side of that page (over the right part of the Earth), it definitely is not any part of Proto Man (unless he’s to both the left and right of Mega Man, which would make no sense).

Plus, there’s the simple fact that there even IS a photoshopped black box there for any reason. Why would it be there? We can see other parts of the booklet just fine. But there are definitely unnatural black boxes covering up parts of those images that don’t really need to be there… unless they were placed there deliberately.

Guys, I really think this might confirm Bass. I mean, yeah, nothing’s confirmed, but I think this is a pretty huge lead. GREAT find, WanderingMind.

(And if anyone can tell me why any of the arguments I made up there are wrong, please do so. I don’t want to mislead anyone or give false hope.)

  10. Crazee says:

    I’m not confident it’s Bass…but I’m confident there’s a secret they’re deliberately hiding. Great find.

And no other secret has that color scheme, to my knowledge. Certainly not Duo. Interesting.

  11. Doctor Andy says:

I think if Bass is included he’ll end up as DLC and not significant to the story, I’m not a pessimist but I’m not going to get my hopes up.

  12. boyle says:

Waaait, why should we excited about this? They don’t say the composers working on this game includes all of the mentioned, it says that work of Inti’s sound unit is supplemented by the works of all those others. Which could mean the same **** from 9, where they thought we wanted to listen to MM2’s soundtrack again.

It sounds pretty impractical to bring in that many guest composers, but it’s almost too awful to be possible that they’d be reusing THAT much music from past games. Hrmmm.

  13. Heat Man says:

@boyle: No, those definitely are all the people who worked on the music of the actual game. And chances are a lot of them only did one song. However, with 46 tracks (albeit including SE), the game appears to have a bit more music than 9. Heck, according to the track list the opening scene alone uses four songs.

They probably didn’t need to get all those composers for the game of course, and you kind of have to figure that they chose to use so many classic MM musicians as a publicity hook. But as far as I’m concerned, if they do good work then I’ll be happy.

  14. boyle says:

I see, the wording is quite deceptive. Makes it sound as if 10’s team is comprised of a separate group of no-name series veterans apart from those they list in addition.

That’s the way it goes though, isn’t it? If it’s worth it, it ’s worth it. I’d almost think their tracks might sound out of place though…considering that there’s about ten more tracks, there must be some sort of special context for these pieces, something more than just the primary stages. I’m most interested in hearing what Uchiyama whips up. In the case of Mega Man, he had an approach all its own.

  15. RegalX7 says:

I have faith in this soundtrack being incredible, with these names.

  16. Heat Man:

What’s your opinion on the whole discussion about Bass and this booklet? I tend to regard your opinion pretty highly on Mega Man-related matters. ;)

  17. Heat Man says:

@Ash: Aww. Flattery will get you everywhere. But yeah, it is Proto Man’s scarf. http://www.themmnetwork.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=2&pos=62

  18. Heat Man -

Gah, I know… someone else made that mistake too. I think you’re looking at something different than what we’re talking about. I can clearly see Proto Man’s scarf too. ;P

I’ve edited the image of the soundtrack to include a circle around and arrows pointing to the part of the image I’m talking about, and I’m going to Twitpic it to you since I don’t have your email address. Check it out and let me know what you think… but the ange of the little arc we’re talking about cannot be seen in any part of Proto Man’s scarf in his Mega Man 10 art, and it’s in an ENTIRELY different part of the page 2-3 spread than Proto Man. The opposite side of the spread, in fact.

Anyway, yeah, Twitpic-ing it to you now.

  19. Heat Man says:

@Ash: Hmn, I see. Well honestly it’s too little to make any good guess as to what it is, though it does kind of appear that they tried to block out what’s there. They did also put Proto Man’s art in the RM9 OST booklet, so it’s not out of the question they’d put Bass’ art in this one, if he really is in the game. Honestly, if they are going through the effort of putting him in the game, then chances are he’ll be a regular boss character as well.

Given that the background has a starry sky, however, it could just be RM10’s promotional artwork.

  20. Crazee says:

Wily’s a fake boss, the real boss is Bass.

  21. deldisco says:

I knew Commando Man’s theme had some Rockman 4 vibes!

  22. MarthKoopa says:

YES! MARI! She is my favorite! I’ll be sure to recognize her work right away.

Mega Man 5 has the best classic soundtrack, she is so talented.

  23. DuoDynamo says:

I’m curious to see how they’ll draw Bass in the older games’ artwork style. IF he appears in the game, that is.

  24. lightmanX says:

not a dissapointing ost but no the best in the megaman series, from megaman 10 all the tunes are good but not memorable.

solarman, chill and sheep are good ones for example.
