UDON Providing New Endings for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars

Some interesting news has come out of UDON Entertainment today.

As we all likely know by now, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom is being bulked up for its worldwide release, and a major part of that is the addition of new characters. So naturally, just slapping the same endings the original version had into this one just won’t cut it– something new has to be done for the guys who were not in the original game.

As such, new endings are being created, from top to bottom, by the fine folks at UDON Entertainment. This may please some fans, who might recall that the cover of the 2006 release Mega Man X Collection (seen at right) was illustrated by the folks at UDON.

By following this link, you can view Capcom’s USTREAM video of the game in action from the Consumer Electronics Show, which even reveals one character’s ending at about six minutes into the hour-long video feed. Unfortunately, however, the endings are not fully-animated, but are instead still-frames with text captions.

Personally speaking, I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, as this provides us with some nice new artwork, rather than some short off-model animations, such as this one for MegaMan Volnutt:

Of course, that’s not to say that those are bad; some appear to be rather funny, despite the Japanese language barrier. Perhaps Capcom can sneak those in as a sort of unlockable bonus of some kind?

    I wanna original mega in that game

    @MAX

    .. too bad

  3. Dresh says:

    I’ll be extremely disappointed if they leave out the anime endings just because it kind of defeats the purpose of crossing with an anime company in the first place.

  4. Shotoman says:

    While it is a little saddening to not have anime endings in an anime crossover game–I’m betting the original endings will be unlockable content, though–I do like Udon artwork. :)

  5. LOLbot says:

    I’m sure they’re going to remove the awesome anime opening too…

  6. Glitcher says:

    I think UDON deserve a second chance at drawing video game endings after Capcom had them work on the the lamentable Capcom Fighting Evolution. At least their talent won’t go to waste this time.

  7. Shake says:

    Wait wait wait, Udon drew the cover to the megaman X collection?

    Huh, didn’t know.

    But they better not take out the original endings out either. I’ll feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’m already disappointed with Alex’s VA. Lovet he fact that a megaman character-that ISN’T classic series Megaman-made it into a Capcom fighter

    What are you talking about? That right there is some sexy piece of Digger right there. Off model? More like “Supermodel”, amirite?

  9. Fishman says:

    Viewtiful Joe’s ending leaves me wondering what the VJ Anime would have been like if it weren’t the pile of crap it turned out to be.

  10. Gamma Rallyson> Eh, I’ve seen better, but I’ve seen worse as well. The dark blue section on the chest piece seems to be way too large, for example, and I think the grey portion of the shoulders is off, if memory serves.

    I have a feeling that Volnutt wasn’t really what Gamma Railyson was really referring too… lol

  12. A.R.M. says:

    *to

  13. Fishman says:

    @LBD

    The hair is wrong, but that’s a mistake of the game itself rather than one limited to the animated ending.

    pssst… no offense but I’ve always hate the cover to the megaman X collection
