MM10 headed to all three consoles; Japanese subtitle (UPDATE)
This scan from the latest Famitsu, courtesy of Wii @ Everyday, confirms that Mega Man 10 will be coming to the Wii, PS3 and 360. Unfortunately the scan’s quality makes it hard to determine much more info, although it seems to be mostly everything covered in Nintendo Power. However, we now know Rockman 10′s full title will be Rockman 10: The Menace from Outer Space!! (uchuu kara no kyoui). Another space-themed storyline? A curious twist. Additionally it’s mentioned that Proto Man mode will be available straight from the beginning, although I imagine the NP report made that clear. It appears Proto Man even has his own storyline sequence, though with the quality of the scan this is hard to determine.
Update: TMMN viewer Fireman has provided a nice, clean version of the scan. From this we can tell the game is slated for a Spring 2010 release in Japan, though we can probably imagine it will be close to North America’s March release. One of the new stages mentioned is a castle stage, which is likely this stage that we’ve seen. And finally we have some nice screens of the story scenes below, where we can see Roll coming down with Robotenza, Mega Man enlisting Dr. Wily’s help (when will he ever learn?), and Proto Man joining the fray in Proto Man mode. Additionally, a screen of the sports stage’s mid boss.

First screen: “Roll: Doctor, I feel like I’ve got a fever or something…”
Second screen: “Dr. Wily. After we get back the vaccine producing machine, we can save Roll and everyone else!”
Third screen: “Proto Man: The more for the fight the better, even if just one more.”
Thanks, Fireman!

Looks good to me

Nice, intro screenshot too!
I hope they show a trailer tomorrow : ))))
If the show is at 9:00 PM pst, what does that make Central? Like, 11PM?

Oh darn, was hoping for a sneak peak on the other Robot Masters…
Anyways, outer-space theme? I wonder what kind of story-related material it would have.
Didn’t you all say there was a sports stage?
That shot on the bottom left shows a Soccer Ball (fútbol) in the air..
$50 on there being a Soccer Man! If not, then $25 theres a boss named Ball Man. $10 on Sports Man.

I see the possibility for Duo entering the story in there…
…and Duo being the third playable character.
Maybe this game will take the character-individualized story route Mega Man and Bass did? That sounds like what they’re doing with Proto Man, and it would help with Duo being playable.
I know Bass is rumored/semi-confirmed for being the third playable character, but I can’t help but wonder. Even if I would prefer him over Duo.
Much as I want another Mega Man game, I’m going to go ahead and say give me the FAN game “Mega Man 10″ over this one. Check it out on YouTube; a Robot Master named Yoku Man whose theme revolves around the infamous vanishing blocks is far superior to Capcom’s “official” Robot Master SHEEP MAN.
I mean seriously…if they’re going to rip off Cloud Man (which they did), they could’ve at least left the animals to the X series. Thunder Wool doesn’t have much of a ring to it as a stolen weapon.
Yoku Man
Yo-Yo Man
Rainbow Man
Comet Woman
…and so on goes the fan game list of Robot Masters. Comet Woman is easily some of the best original Robot Master design I’ve ever seen, and Yoku Man is an idea that should’ve been done a long time ago. Sheep Man and his cohorts pale in comparison to the efforts of the fan community. And I haven’t even talked about Mega Man X: Corrupted…
When the fans can do it better than the original creators, that says a lot.
Not saying I won’t buy MM10 because I will (just because it’s Mega Man). Just saying Capcom seems to be doing a half-baked job with their bosses.
I don’t think Duo is the third playable character. His sprite is too big in comparison to Mega Man and Proto Man. That would make it very awkward to progress through the levels. I still have my hopes set on Bass.
Bass better be in this one.
If its a spaced themed game it could be that Duo could be the mystery character
Sweet, then I’m getting it for my Wii AND my PS3!
A space theme, I thought this was the classic series, not Starforce……
There have been space themes in classic before. Look at mm8 ps1 and mmv for gameboy.
Not to mention MM3 even took place on other planets.
…and I just came back from YouTube, and Mega Phil X’s amazing fangame music. *WHEW* AWESOME!
The soccer goal mid boss in the screenshot… his face looks like Duo..
Space themes?
Mega Man 2: Wily’s “Alien” final form.
Mega Man 5: Star Man, Gravity Man, nuff said.
Mega Man 8: Astro Man, Duo and the “Evil Energy”
Mega Man and Bass: Astro Man (again)
Mega Man 9: Galaxy Man
Mega Man 1, 2, and 4 (Game Boy): Wily had Space Fortresses
Mega Man 5 (Game Boy): Stardroids….again nuff said.
Shall I go on?………
@Heat Man
MM3? Since when? Neither the NES nor the GB versions took place on other planets. I think you are thinking of Mega Man 5 (GB).
@Airman: The energy elements needed to power Gamma were in mining colonies on other planets.
Yeah but the games never actually took place on other planets, (as in you never have a stage that is on another planet). I thought that’s what you meant…..sorry.
@Airman: Actually, yes. The stages in MM3 are supposed to take place on other planets. =P Or at least some of them.
The space theme does make me think of Duo, but if they actually managed to leave Bass out of 9 I see no reason to bring back Ol’ Fisty in any hurry.
Though, if it had something to do with the evil energy from that anti-Duo guy, that could tie up a few loose strings. That stuff was -supposed- to have some kind of drugs-are-bad-mm’kay side effect, wasn’t it? Yet both Wily and Bass pretty much walked away without paying for it. Heck, Bass still retains his upgraded Treble Boost, yet if anything he’s become even more inclined toward justice and compassion since then…
Not that any of that really has the slightest thing to do with what’s going on here, and reference to “evil energy” is probably even less likely than Duo returning, but the mind may as well wander, no?
@Airman
Heat Man’s right. Mega Man 3′s stages are indeed located on other planets.
In any case, damn am I excited. And I can’t believe we only have to wait three months! Mega Man 10 and Final Fantasy XIII in the same month? That’s almost too much good at once.
The space element really caught me off guard. Perhaps Robotenza is extraterrestrial in nature? That’d be a neat twist, if indeed Robotenza ends up being the prototype Maverick Virus, that would mean Wily caused all that havoc by re-engineering a mysterious virus from space… in effect, making Zero at least partially of alien origin. Of course, that’s all major conjecture, and I’m sure Capcom won’t link Robotenza and the Maverick Virus at all, but hey. One can always dream.
I’d be really impressed if Duo re-entered the story in Mega Man 10. Capcom’s never been much for worrying about continuity, so I’d be pleased if they brought back Duo for another go-round. Even though they already clearly are, it would help make more tangible the fact that these really are sequels to Mega Man 8, even though they’ve come out a decade later and are neo-8-bit titles.
Is it me or does the second screenshot with Dr. Wily, Megaman, and Dr.Light seem to have 16/32-bit for an NES game? Its quality is more advance than any NES game I ever seen.
@arbiter: It does look a little more detailed than what you might imagine the NES being able to do (MM9 was the same way really). But if you really analyze that pic, there can’t be more than 12 colors in it.
Mm… You’re right, it’s a lot more colorful than anything I’ve seen the NES muster. They’re cheating a little, I think… Not that that’s really such a bad thing.
You’re right its still 12 colors, but it still seems un-NES like and much advance. Though its a good thing a guess, plus MM9′s scene didn’t look as graphically as that image. This one is clear while MM9′s you can see NES bits on the image.
Sports Man is the way to go.
They announced a place with several sports stuff, so obviously its a boss that excels in more than one sport.
They cheated a bit on MM9, too; if you read the developer’s article in NP magazine back in the day, you know that Magma Man’s stage miniboss couldn’t have been properly programmed on the NES.
@Heat Man
Where does it indicate in the game that the stages are on other planets? The only stage that it would make any sense for is Gemini Man’s stage (which admittedly looked pretty alien).
@Airman: Admittedly I don’t think the North American take on the storyline emphasizes the planetary theme much. But in the Japanese storyline, it’s clear that Rockman must get the energy elements for Gamma from other planets, where various labor robots went berserk. They are “mysterious planets” so I think it’s implied they’re not in our solar system. I do admit that most MM3 stages don’t seem very extraplanetary, though you could sorta say the same for MMV too. You also have to remember that the MM series’ take on space and other sciences is very… cartoony.
pale in comparison to the efforts of the fan community
And I haven’t even talked about Mega Man X: Corrupted
hurrr durrr hey gaise can we add a totaly l33t subtitle to our fangame i kno CORRUPTED aw man so awesme
Suggesting the community even begins to approach the level of the development staff is pretty loony. Surveying their efforts, they’re really not half bad. However, there’s not just the matter of waiting and seeing if it executes, fits together and flows like a game should do best, but all the little preview prospects of music and graphics, while not bad as I said, ARE NOT BETTER. Overall, they don’t compare. Nothing wrong with that, let them have fun with it, but it’s way off to parade that around as “far superior”.
Honestly, be thankful we can count on Capcom for even trivial things like having some sort of sense of subtlety so as to not tag on tacky, gag-inducing subtitles like “CORRUPTED” onto X games.
So is it going to come out in America first, or Japan like all the other ones?
@Trigger: I have to commend MegaPhilX’s “Mega Man 10″. From what I’ve seen on YouTube it’s a pretty good fan-game. But considering only 2 of the true Mega Man 10′s bosses have been revealed (only one “cohort” to Sheep Man, not “cohorts”), it’s not fair to say the whole roster “pales in comparison”. Especially since we haven’t seen them in action yet.
@Airman: My understanding is also that MM3′s stages are on other planets. The English manual calls them “mining worlds”, and Wikipedia and other online sources address them as planets.
Looks like Wily’s on the up-and-up this time…and if you believe that, I have a swamp in the Alps to sell you.
I wonder if it will be revealed in this game that Wily actually is an alien, like in Mega Man 2?
@Trigger: If you’re already angry with what Capcom’s shown of 10, go look up Mega Man Rocks!, which should help put things in perspective.
I wonder, if Light and Mega Man see Wily right there, why don’t they just shove him into their unmarked van and hold him hostage until they find out the new not-very-extraterrestrial robots aren’t, in fact, his own?
I have been keeping track of Megaphils Megaman 10 and an it’s a great fan-game and I will admit that so far I’m kind of disappointed by the real megaman 10 boss designs, however It’s too early to say that the real one pales in comparison because only two robot masters have been showcased.
(though the official Megaman 10 seems a little funky)
@Heat Man
Thanks for the info, you learn something new every day. I agree that the North American version of the game did little to nothing to let us know that this was an extraterrestrial game. Especially the robot masters who certainly don’t look like they would be taking you on from other worlds (I mean a Ninja robot and a Magnet robot….they GOTTA be from space!?!)
Hopefully Wily will turn into a good guy in this one. He’s such a good character. Not that Dr. Light isn’t…
