Mega Man 2 Makes GameSpite’s List of “Greatest Games of All Time”

Over on GameSpite.net, the second issue of GameSpite Quarterly features the staff counting down their favorite games, those which “have made lasting impressions on their gentle souls.”

Naturally, there has to be at least one Mega Man game on there, and surely enough, there is. Philip Armstrong takes up the task about writing about Mega Man 2, only he chooses to do so through somewhat less-conventional methods than those utilized by his colleagues.

It’s a fun little read (and perhaps a touch risque’), but one thing bothers me: it more or less begins with the question of why Mega Man 2 should be considered better than Mega Man 3, and while it goes on to detail some of what makes the game great, it doesn’t really address why Mega Man 3 is any less deserving.

    “Airman: Nakaya mo-fo’s.”

I think it’s the lovable scenario MM2 brought.

The ending made me lol pretty damn hard.

As much as I appreciate MM2’s place in Mega Man history, I’m acutally of the opinion the MM3 is the better game. But that’s just me.

HAha, I knew when I heard ‘GameSpite’ and it involved MegaMan, it had to be Armstrong! He draws the Nintendo Super Squad comics, which are beyond awesome. I had a feeling he really liked MegaMan, and I guess I was right.

Although I have to say, MegaMan 3 is my favorite over 2 (kind of like the above commenter). While I enjoy it more, here’s a few things I think which make people always seem to choose 2 over 3 in the media:
-3 was incomplete. It has no intro sequence, certain areas show up as unfinished: it still came out great, but even without hearing Inafune’s comment on its incompleteness, you can tell some things were sadly missing
-2 was the first popular MegaMan game, and nostalgia is tough to beat
-The weapons and robot masters from 2 seem more memorable overall, despite ShadowMan’s greatness

I more like Rockman 3 than 2… O_o At least, its difficult makes Rockman 3 more playable.

And I think I’m not the only one that thinks so…

Well of course it did. It’s only the greatest video game EVER!

  9. Airman says:

    ….Mega Man 2 I mean. (that wasn’t a reply to Emuji’s post).

In my humble opinion.. Mega Man 2 is a bit overrated.
