So I finally finished this game.

Does anyone need to know what's new?

A new boring fetch quest (the SF crossover part) that lasts 30 minutes, with a new boss who's not even that hard.

The ability to play as Geo Stelar, who has superior to Mega Man.EXE in terms of abilities, which just makes the game even easier IF you decide to use him (I didn't until after I beat the game).

4 new Battle Chips (according to the Library at least)

* Coded chips.

And some other minor tweaks here and there not worth mentioning such as Elec Man's stage, and an addition of a sound effect for turning the valves in Ice Man's stage...

Now about the music... Capcom obviously went lazy on us here. If they were aiming for the nostalgic effect, you think they would've done the same for the SF music and made it GBA sounding, right? They didn't, they just ported music over in this game lazily, and the only new theme is the remixed title theme, which is an awesome remix, so it's pretty disappointing Capcom didn't take advantage of the DS' sound chip.

Now I know I probably pissed off some of you, and I'm sorry for bashing this horribly, it's not a bad game, but it's just I've played this 8 years ago, and it's hardly any different now than it was 8 years ago.

TL;DR version: I'm disappointed, the game isn't necessarily bad by any means, but it's essentially the same game again.

Unless they actually plan on remixing the music in the next one and actually adding a lot of more content, I don't want to see them make an OSS2. >_>

No problem. And if I come off as bashful towards the game, I really dont mean for my words to be interpreted in that way XD. Anyhoot I hope this game comes out in America preferably at the tip of spring as the battle netowrk games did.(would be fitting too, this being a bn game of course)

It's all cool, all cool, I just get a little hotheaded over things like this. I'm a very big Mega Man fan (have been my whole life) and it really bugs me to see people dumping on a Mega Man game (as you have said, not that you nessecarily are) for no reason as some people have been recently. I also agree that these forums are the ideal place for discussion but only as long as that discussion/criticism is constructive in nature. If that is how you feel about it as well, then I really have no beef or problem with you and would like to apologize if I came off as a bit harsh.

I agree that dismissal with prejudice of the game is pointless especially if you dont have the game to actually make a fair assessment. But dont confuse me wiht those people. I just wanted some answers as to the contents of the game, and then went on to ask questions regarding the progress of the series depending on those answers. And I feel the best place to discuss those things are in fact, in an enviornment that centers around the game and its fandom. I feel I have done nothing to discourage people from getting this game. In the very essence, I only ask for honest feedback about the game and its specifics. That's really all there is =).

Like I said before, I have no problem with you or anyone else feeling a certain way about a game. That's your right to voice your opinion and I have all the respect for that. However this game has so far earned a lot of flack and until a person has actually sat down and tried it for themselves then they can't really say much beyond "I think it looks good for ____ reasons" or "I think it looks bad for ____ reason". But this poor game has been torn to pieces already and most of those doing it haven't even played it yet! If you have problems or concerns with the game then that's cool and I think you should bring them up. But bring them up with Capcom instead of repeating the same hate for it that others have already done here. I seriously doubt that the game developers regularly check these sites to hear opinions on the games they make. This is a site for Mega Man fans and again while I think its cool for everyone to have their own say in something, it gets a tad disheartening when all anyone has to say is "Boo, this game is a wast of time...yadda yadda". I have nothing against you or anyone else here personally (on the contrary in fact, I'm always eager to meet and share information with other Mega Man fans.....make friends not enemies I always say), but your concerns or problems with this game should definetley be brought before Capcom rather than ranting on a forum or website. :)

I was merely challenging people to describe what's new about the game. I dont have access to the game or its contents. Im not trying to be rude or bash the game. As a hardcore megaman fan, I feel that it is my prerogative to voice my concern for the vitality of the series. Since I believe to a certain degree, that the fanbase has influence over the developement of this series, it would only be helpful to pose valid critisisms on each game in the hopes that problms aren't repeated and awareness of the problems can spread, giving more incentive for Capcom to do a better job and expand on the ideas for the series which will ultimately prevent deterioration of the series. And if there's anything you disagree with, feel free to adress specific points in my post so further discussion can take place. =)

@Everybody

Try not to pay too much attention to what Stev3child and NovaManXP are saying. Granted I will give NovaManXP a hand in that he actually TRIED the game so now if he doesn't like it at least he is justified in not liking it. But guys if you don't like the game, then fine, but don't be bringing everyone else down who are looking forward to it. You may think you're doing us all a favour by trying to save us money or something, but you're not. You're just stomping all over a game before its even been released here yet, and as a hard core Mega Man fan, I really can't stand to see it happen. You've already made it clear that you don't like the game, so that's enough. Let the rest of us just try it and see for ourselves.

The funny thing is, any "upgrades" to the battle system in this are nothing at affects gameplay much other than * codes and the lack of the 2nd ADD.

Been playing through this, been trying to like it, but it's the same game I played 8 years ago, except the music sounds duller. Apparently the SF Crossover part isn't for a while into the game, so basically this is just BN1 DS with a SF extra scenario.

To be honest, even though I like BN1 more than BN5, BN5 DS did a much better job than this. :[

It's unfortunate, I expected a lot of great things from this when this was first announced, pretty disappointed.

I guess... if you never played BN1 and can't find the original GBA version, you could get this. Otherwise just stick with your GBA BN1.

What sets this game apart from the other games in this series to justify this release? Does capcom want to make a quick buck? Or do they want us to indulge in an engaging expeience? How can you accomplish the latter if the only thing you've done to the game was reiterate its core mechanics which are almost a decade old? Should I hold megaman to a higher standard for each successive game, or accept the fact that the series has gone nowhere and won't progress anytime soon.
