Capcom, CoroCoro and Kids Station team up for OSS promotion + new footage

bnandsfCapcom, CoroCoro and Kids Station are teaming up for the “Double Rockman Present Campaign” to promote Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star. What kind of promotion is it? Why, it’s a scavenger hunt! Ten lucky participants can enter between now and November 30th for a chance to win a copy of Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star and a sticker set. However, there will also be a second chance (hence the double theme) running from December 1st until January 4th. Of course, the promotion is naturally Japan only, so that probably stops a lot of you in your tracks.

So how does it work? Well, you need to find a special letter on each of the participating websites. For example, on the Capcom page linked above, clicking on the Mr. Program reveals Capcom’s special character. Next, head over to the CoroCoro website and solve this puzzle, revealing their special character. Finally, drop on by Kids Station and watch the video on the top of the page with the guy who’s waaaaay too excited about his job. Incidentally, this video shows off some new footage from OSS, including the appearance of ClockMan. At the end of the video, crazy man sticks the special character to his head. Why not? He already has so many things stuck to him.

When you have all three, you can head back over to Capcom, accept their agreement for entering and then input the special character from each site. Incidentally, the special characters from each page spell the name Netto… but you’ll have to see each page to figure out who provides which character! Or, you can just buy the game like I am.

Yeah, he was a bit to happy…but then again, who am I to judge? Hell, I was like that when I was able to play MM9, so I guess it’s natural.

Eh, after having gone through watching Pokemon HG/SS-related snippets of Pokemon Sunday during most of the Summer, I’m used to the kind of enthusiasm that this guy displayed. (And trust me, the Pokemon Sunday cast are about as awesomely crazy as you can get.)

At least we now learn that SSR’s Lock-On makes him teleport in front of his target (and bypass obstacles in the way) rather than a really quick dash forward. (Even with a Shockwave battlechip? The heck? Minor nitpicking here, but it’s RANGED and FORWARD AREA-OF-EFFECT for a reason.)

On another note, it might be a bit futile, but does anyone have any new info on the new EXE manga yet?

Hmm… I wonder if there’s a translation of the Video anywhere?

  4. Ryan Ferneau says:

Heh, somebody used two AreaSteals on NumberMan, nice. And an AquaSword for FireManV1? Either they moved that chip to an earlier point in the game, or somebody traded chips with a friend. I believe that would have finished off FireMan in one hit at the start of the battle!

  5. Fishman says:

    @Alilatias

That’s how the lock-on worked in the SSR games. You could lock on with just about any attack that didn’t dim the screen, including the GroundWave series of chips in their games.

Awaiting moderation? Oh, I see… I didn’t know whether I should censor that with the GameFAQs asterisks or not.

  7. Alilatias says:

Regal: I would think that whatever you typed would be awaiting moderation because of something else. I’ve had asterisks like **** get through without a problem. Then again, that was quite a while ago, and I usually type ‘[censored]‘ just to jump over the issue nowadays on this site and GameFAQs.

The only time in which one of my comments ever faced moderation on this site was when I posted a link to IGN’s (I know, lol IGN) Mobile Mega Man 2 review.

  8. Alilatias says:

Fishman: Hm, that reminds me, I wonder if Area Locking (not Row Locking) is possible in this game, since the battle system so far looks more like a fusion of the first three games rather than the later three.

    I hope not, though…

  9. RegalX7 says:

My comment was just about how insane the guy in the video was. It involved a term that started with “bat,” followed by a four-letter word that started with the letter “s,” then ended with “crazy.”
I know now to censor it in the future, though.
