Largified CoroCoro scan for your perusal

7

To compliment our previous report, that sexy Protodude has got a sexy big scan of this month’s CoroCoro report on Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star. There isn’t any integral new information, but from the image we can confirm the existing of GutsMan, FireMan and NumberMan in the game (NumberMan isn’t shown but screens from his scenario have been out for a little while now). Aside from ClockMan’s scenario, the events appear to be identical to the original MegaMan Battle Network so far.

One thing that does make me a little curious, although probably isn’t a big issue, is why they keep calling it a “card + action” game, as opposed to mentioning chips. This article does finally mention battle chips, but it likens them to cards. I don’t recall any of the BN games before being likened to card gaming. Since their description of the system is identical to how BN plays, I wonder if this is just to entice Star Force/card gaming fans.

Whoa. Thats one sexy scan right there.
    (btw first comment w00t w00t)
I’m loving the new battlefield look.

  2. offullness says:

Dur hur hur SECOND COMMENT dur hur hur!

Can’t wait until this is out… not because I want to play it, but because I’m tired of seeing pointless posts about it every other day.

  3. TennyWenny says:

awesomeness and why wouldn’t fireman, guts and number be in here? its Geo who time travels, not Lan. but i do wounder if Tab and the friends from Cyber City will ever be in a game like this. not this one, since this is a remake of bn, but on bnsf 6. we might never see.

  4. Netto Potter says:

    Holy Molly!
I’m just can’t wait to have RE:OSS in my hands! :D

  5. maxchain says:

If I didn’t know any better, I’d say EXE and… whatever Star Force’s answers to (I forget, is it just Megaman?) are going to throw down at some point.

  6. JDAManson says:

I was wondering the same thing about it seeming to mention Card and ACTION BATTLE all the time.

Other stuff, it seems like the scans lists each RockMan’s respective abilities, at least as far as we know so far; RockMan.EXE can use Program Advances exclusively, and it seems to mention something else about chips… with some hiragana help, it seems to mean the second row of chips, which I guess means only RockMan.EXE can use the ADD function, which makes sense. S.S. RockMan’s exclusive abilities are obvious and there’s nothing worth mentioning there, though if I’m correct in my guess about RockMan.EXE’s abilities, it seems to mean S.S. RockMan will only have access to a single row of Chips– whether this means six like in SSR or five like an actual row here obviously remains to be seen. It’s likely they’re intentionally hiding S.S. RockMan’s Custom Screen.

I miss navi cust, I don’t like link power system.

Do you think they will implement the armor system? with color change?

  8. Alilatias says:

offullness: *saves that comment for whenever a new X game is announced* :p

That’s some nice artwork they have there.

Quick question for those who actually have played EXE 1 – Did the battlefield actually change depending on the location? The first image on the left compared to every other image and the one with Fireman shows different panel coloring.

  9. Goodbye18000 says:

I am i the only one who noticed Wily in the top corner? I didn’t play the original, but that was how his sprite looked like in BN6.

  10. MegaBob says:

The panels changed their colour scheme for whatever level (and background) they were in, but they were always just stock standard panels. I think the only alteration that could be done to them was cracking/destroying them.

  11. Salad says:

Nope, they had markings such as striped arrows, squares and little holes (Fireman) depending on the location also. Aside from the new mugshots nothing’s been changed from the original.

  12. mega rock.exe says:

Again. What is the point of this game? I’m not expecting anything good coming from this anymore. It’s September and everything seems to be known, and it’s not good.

  13. Darth Maver says:

SF/BN+Fail+Keiji Failafune+Capcom+NothingNew=SUPER HYPER KAOKEN MEGA BOOM DOOM MAJIN FAILLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Alilatias says:

MegaRockEXE: I only have one thing to say to that.

It’s early. Too early to be jumping to conclusions this fast, especially based on assuming that just because the first two scenarios are remaining mostly the same does not mean that the rest will be exactly the same too.

And for those who think I’m just some blind fangirl that blindly defends this game, I’m going to be disappointed if what JDAMansion says is true (mostly about Rockman.EXE’s only special abilities being that of the second battlechip row and usage of Program Advances, in which I was sure there would be more than just this and that Program Advances can be used by both characters, and that I thought EXE’s abilities are to be explained in the next issue instead).

But again, too early to tell.

Darth Maver: I’d normally say something insulting about the way you structure your arguments right about now, but I think most others here can do it in a much better way than I ever could.

  15. Lumi says:

I do not like this new look one bit. Don’t get me wrong; this isn’t a final judgement.
But as far as the current screen shots are concerned, I think the quality is on par with a rom hack. I mean, come one. Is there THAT much difference in there?

  16. Darth Maver says:

Again look at where your money is going when it comes to getting a new game made. Rehashed sprites and graphics as well as content. What a fail Keiji what a fail. Cmon man make a real game instead of crap.

  17. Windsor Genesis says:

Err… I’m confused what this ‘new look’ is you guys are talking about. This looks exactly the same as BN1 to me. I’m thinking this is a good thing. BN1 was the only good one in the series in my opinion.

  18. PStart says:

My favorite BN is still 2…I would buy this game like, 2X as fast if it was a remake of that.

Still definitely interested though. Picture of Starforce VS EXE is sooooo COOOL

  19. Ryan Ferneau says:

I’m happy that it’s returning to the first game, because it should bring back some of the features I liked that the sequels ditched. I just hope I can still Add a third row of battle chips!

  20. Enzan Chaud says:

@ Lumi, Darth Maver: The only thing new is mugshots people. Get your facts straight. If you’re so angry, go run a video game company and put your money where your mouth is. It’s already being sold at a reduced price.

I am pretty glad they’re making this game, considering my BN game’s save battery ran out.

  21. MegaBob says:

The battery in the BN games run out!?

Oh damn, that’s not good. I like these games too much for me not to play them again.

  22. LKR000 says:

I don’t get what all the fuss is about the graphics. Didn’t they do the same with double team ds and they added quite a few new things in that, I think.
Anyway me and my sister will be getting a copy each so we can battle each other on it, and I’m also curious in finding out what the mini game is like with up to six players.

  23. beep says:

Look’s ok to me, but couldn’t they atleast put BN6′s battle sprite in? I mean c’mon.
