Vote Mega Man in GameSpot’s “All Time Greatest Video Game Hero” Contest
Now is the time to make our voices heard, Mega Fans! GameSpot is holding a GameFAQs-ish contest (which is apt, given the former owns the latter) to determine who the “All Time Greatest Video Game Hero” is.
Round 1 is going on as of this writing, and the Blue Bomber appears to be having an easy time of it, so far besting fellow Capcom stablemate Mayor Mike Haggar of Final Fight by 86.4 percent of the vote, bringing in a tally of 32,315 votes to Haggar’s 5,108. Provided he stays the course, his next battle in the bracket comes against the formidable duo of Ratchet & Clank from their eponymous series, and if he should best the pair (who are currently dominating Gex), then he’ll have to face either fellow power-copier Kirby or fellow Capcom family member Dante of Devil May Cry.
Perhaps it’s important to note that the name “Mega Man” in this contest seems to represent all Mega Men, from the original DRN-001 series robot to Mega Man X to their distant spiritual descendant in MegaMan Volnutt, as the “Behind the Hero” profile seems to draw no distinction between characters, be it X or EXE– this is for the franchise, so let’s get out there and make our votes count!

C’mon! If we can get Megaman into the Robot Hall of Fame then we can get him to the top of this as well!

Actually the brackets show that only Cloud from FF7 is represented. Link is there too but I think he would deserve winning more than all the FF7 characters combined. By the way I think this person has an interesting point regarding his or her choice for greatest hero…bear with the spelling and and grammar mistakes.

Knew that already! I voted the day they were open and I chose Megaman. Megaman is my favorite character of ALL time, more than Goku and everyone else.
Mega Man is good enough for me regardless. It does not matter if he wins this. But I don’t want someone boring like mario or sonic to win. They are so overrated that it is not funny at all. And if they win, I’ll never hear the end of it from my friends… How do you vote anyway?
And Of course it does not look like mega man is gonna win. Mario and sonic have more of a chance… I really don’t wanna know who wins. We need more supporters… I don’t like sonic even though it’s in my Username…
Hey, if we can get Samus Aran to beat Sonic, Mega Man should have one hack of a chance. He doesn’t even need to win, if we can get him in the finals, it will be farther than he’s ever gone before.
Srsly? Bomberman lost to Gordon Freeman? How does that work out? Good lord. I find that being able to procure bombs out of thin air is much more handy and cool.
And I agree with Spike here. If Link and Cloud go further into the winnings, I personally wiil go to every other LoZ and FF-based forum site and verbally chew everone out for not being reasonable as gamers to expand their horizons on video game knowledge. But then again, if Bub and Bob could beat Master Chief, then maybe there is hope.
P.S.N., Megaman is still in the robot hall of fame running nomination (I thought it was over) and is in the lead at 36%, ahead of Bender who is at 29%. I voted a third time just to help him win.
Are you guys aware that the site-that-must-not-be-named is collaborating to get people to out vote popular character for the sweet reactions that will come from their fans? They already taken down Master Chief and will set their sights to Sonic and Cloud. I don’t think Mega might be a target, though.
Half of the characters they picked can’t even be fully considered heroes. You think for owning gameFAQs, they’d have a better idea of what they’re doing. Pikachu? Sackboy? Really?
I guess it’s nice to see Cloud losing by a landslide for once. Even if I have a hard time considering Little Mac a hero too.
I’ll vote for Megaman when tougher opponents come, but he has no hope against Link and Cloud, unfortunately.

You know what I think? I think that I need to work tomorrow so I can earn money to eat and survive.
Crap like this voting thing is a waste of time. Cloud is going to win because he’s an emo loser with a back story everyone feels like they can relate to. Did Cloud ever have to deal with a fraudulent check and prevent a loss of $600+ ? Did he ever deal with angry customers that insist on getting that correct price, a difference of $.50 on their receipt? Did Cloud ever have to deal with a middle aged woman with Down’s Syndrome that threw a fit because her guardian hid a stack of Crayola markers and stationary away before paying? Psh, no. He just swings his big *** sword around like a mini emo helicopter and can’t seem to get it up for the biggest ***tease in video game history.
Granted, I’m quite content with Pikachu winning. Is Pikachu in the contest?

Regardless, I can’t believe they’re making an ‘All Time Greatest’ list. I seem to come by these lists a lot, maybe every year, I don’t really follow them hugely.
I’m a Zelda and Mega Man fan, so if the winner from this poll is from one of those series, I’ll be happy.

I´m a Mario Sonic Megaman Fan and all the another games like Metroid Pokemon
etc and i like all of their games.
