A Tale of Two MegaMans: Operate Shooting Star in CoroCoro

The first info dump from CoroCoro has finally arrived, and the game is back to looking more like a cross over again, as our heroes in this remake are Lan, MegaMan and… MegaMan. Furthermore, we have some details on the new Navi ClockMan, who may or may not be the final design of the contest winner Clock Genius. But, first, pictures to soak in.

Now, here are the details that we can gather. The game seems to star both BN MegaMan and SF MegaMan in the BN time period, although it’s unaware if you can play as both. Right now, it appears as though SF MegaMan is the playable one. Furthmore, Harp Note appears too, making it likely that other SF cast members will show up.

There is a new Navi, ClockMan. He is an advanced Net Navi that was created in the SF time period, but of course has come back too. He may be the final design of the boss contest winning entry Clock Genius, but this apparently hasn’t been determined entirely. For now it appears he’s probably an enemy. His dialogue in the picture reads “By the way, I expect this plan to be fulfilled in 32 hours, 8 minutes and 12 seconds!!” This is likely the character indicated by the mysterious post on the RnR3 website.

A lot of the game’s graphics appear to be taken directly from the original Battle Network. Mayl’s room and the internet areas look exactly the same. However, the facial avatars appear to be new. Also, it looks like the game has a map system like BN5DS had.

The game will contain a slick opening movie.

This is what we can gather so far. The game’s battle system has craftily not been shown off yet, and these new revelations will likely bring up many new questions. Hopefully updates later this month will make things a little more clear. Stay tuned.

Also, much thanks to Protodude of Protodude’s Rockman Corner who helped keep track of this news, since I injured my shoulder earlier this week. This report is essentially from both of us.

Hmmm…Its still in development, so they could still change things around.

Capcom is going to do what they wish, so why bother laying out your expectations when it will likely not be looked into, or better yet, send a message to the Capcom support forum, and see if they will make any much needed changes to the game/ take them into consideration, when they sent a message asking about the removed features in MMSF3, they got an answer.

What is to say that doing the same thing here will not work out?

  2. ChrisZX says:

I honestly know why they used BN1 sprites. The 4-6 sprites are like small versions of the 1-3 sprites. Geo would be too tall in that case, so they HAD to show, using the BN1-3 sprites ATLEAST if they will make new sprites.

    Wow well this seems nice.
I thought Capcom was gonna screw up but apparently they got this update right.

  4. Issenmaster says:

    @Stev3child …

I agree with you, that is why they crossed with BN1 because there was less strong characters … What would happen if they emerge team protoman or colonel? the characters role will be absurd ..

@jts105: Haha, thanks. Glad to hear there’s someone else of the same mind.
    _______

There are some things I’m curious about with all this, like…

    - if this game is going to be canon.
Every notable game in the MMBN and MMSF series has been canon. Network Transmission and Battle Chip Challenge included. RockMan EXE 4.5 Real Operation was a different beast entirely (differing in both mechanics and purpose).
It’d be interesting to see how they harmonize it with the MMBN games. A history-distortion reset at the end of the game, by ClockMan or Clock Genius, perhaps?

    - if the “MystrDat” given to MegaMan.exe in MMSF1 by Geo+Omega-Xis will play any role in this… While unlikely, it’d be a cool little nugget.

    - how Geo+Omega-Xis are fused and substantiated in the year 200X. I haven’t played MMSF3 yet, but I assume they rely on the Wave World for all this. From what I’ve read and seen they’re not entirely self-sustaining.

  6. MegaBob says:

I have no idea what the mechanics of the game will be, but I’d prefer it if Lan controlled MegaMan.exe instead of SF Mega. I like the BN series more than the SF series.

-Fanboy not quite but getting there rant over-

  7. drWeil says:

I bet my frank that it´ll include both netbattle/wavebattle styles.

  8. Forci says:

@AurorX: Regarding your last point, Star Force 3’s Hunter-VG actually allows Geo to transform anywhere at will, regardless of the Wave Road. So, yes, he has essentially become self-sustaining.

  9. Enzan Chaud says:

Only Capcom can make a remake, a prequel, and a sequel out of the same game.

  10. Blizt says:

heh, this seems going to be interesting XD

Just by looking at pictures of BN/SF’s main characters gather together and talk is making me excited already :D

Of all the questions we players have thought of, such as the wave road in BN timeline, battle system, etc….I’m sure the developers are aware of those too, and I don’t think they will disappoint us too much, otherwise why bother and dish out this cross-over plan in the first place?

I’d really like to see Omega-Xis’s reaction when the two “megaman” meet:

Megaman(BN): This is Lan, and I’m Megaman.
    Megaman(SF): What?! You’re megaman too?
    All: @_@
    Omega-Xis: (insert lines here XD)

  11. haha123 says:

doesn’t geo trans out on the bn world?

  12. AurorX says:

@Forci: Oh okay, interesting. That’s pretty nifty.

  13. megamanfan3 says:

From the looks of it, this must be a revamped Megaman Battle Network 1. Having the ability to play as Geo Stelar (MegaMan Star Force) might mean something like a rapid-fire buster compared to MegaMan.EXE’s standard buster. Weather MegaMan.EXE will be playable or not, I do not know.

  14. i wonder if this game will have any new megaman transformation (souls, crosses, noises, ect.) a zero soul would be an awesome addition, i also think playing as megaman(BN) would be awesome, specially if you fought in “starforce type” (3D) wave battle format.

sorry for the “scientifical words” and quotations (lol :>) and all just trying to explain myself a little better so you guys can Know what im talking about. :D :C >:C :B

    happy, sad, mad, goofy

  15. plz anyone tell me wat u think about my ideas/expectations

  16. Ash Abe Add says:

To Seiko and the others, who know, maybe this is all what they want to show us. Maybe they want to WOW us when the time come. I mean, who would REALLY want to show everything for a remake? Then what would the value be to newcomer? They want us to expect more maybe, and maybe there will be more. Lets see what happen when the time come. P.S. anyone played the Japanese version?
