Congratulations to JetZero and the other two winners! Even though re-enactments can occur any time of the year, the first place entry has a distinct midsummer evening heat coming from it– very cool idea.

I agree that plenty of other entries were deserving. Great job everyone:)

I was actually pleasantly surprised to see so many big group pics among the entrants. While I figured the usual characters would get their spotlight, it was nice that so many of you guys incorporated a bunch of ‘em.

Congrats winners, and there were many cool ones among the other 30 that deserved to place as well.

I agree with you guys entirely. I also like the Second place entry the most, I think it shows the greatest amount of skill. and yeah, I don’t get much of a summer vibe form my entry either, comparing it to the others. But I’m not a summer person, so getting a summer vibe for me is… well, next to impossible.

Hae, where I’m from, re-enactments only happen in the summer, because in Canada the summer is the only time of the year the weather is decent enough for this kind of event. The rest of the year, we get too much rain/snow/ice/landslides/volcanic eruptions. XD Ok that last one was a stretch, but you get the point.

And Glitch, I agree on your points too. I could have done better with the lighting and the backgrounds with a reference maybe, but since I worked without one that’s the best I can muster. I’m an amateur, unlike you.

Not to sound ungrateful or anything. I’m glad the contest was a smashing success and I hope everyone had a good time. I hope this further inspires artistic endeavors and adds to the fandom of the Mega Man franchise.

@Hae: Technically, they can. But those civil war nerds who live here in my area always wait till summer to do their mock battles. I guess they don’t want to freeze.

and yes, Glitcher is right. It was the scope and coloring that nailed it. That, and the creativity. I wanted to see what else people could do besides stereotypical summer things.

You know, Jemuel Lewis’ entry makes me laugh because of how bad the photo capture of it is. The tablecloth takes up as much space as the picture. XD

It looks like it was a very close race between first and second place. I think I might actually prefer Reka’s entry because there are some noticeable faults with Jetzero’s – namely the foreground being underlit and the buildings being totally out of perspective with each other. But I can imagine the scope and colouring prowess of the enrty won the judges over, and there’s little I can argue with that. Kudos to Jetzero! Enjoy your first prize stash.

I also agree with Ron L, I didn’t get the summer vibe either because reenactments can happen any time of the year. But to each their own.

I didn’t really get a summerish vibe from that first place, but whatever, I wasn’t a member of the judges xD the outrageous orange made me grin :3 and I notice 2nd place used different eyestyles (luna’s eyes are rounder, in official art they look say.. sharper)
