Mega Man defends the seas in Mega Man Rush Marine
In the series’ continuing quest to be unpredictable, Mega Man Rush Marine takes Mega Man and his canine companion’s submersible form to defend the waters from the evil Dr. Wily. I’d almost not believe it myself except that the retro-styled shooter is slated for release on mobile phones.
It seems even Dr. Wily is feeling the pinch of the recession, and has taken to drilling for oil in the sea. But since everything Wily does causes trouble, his drilling activities begin to earthquakes above ground, and now only Mega Man can stop him. Thankfully he has a robot dog who can transform into a submarine. According to the fact sheet released by Capcom, Mega Man Rush Marine carries the following features:
- Exciting side-scrolling aquatic shooter.
- Explore three aquatic environments including Shallow Water, Volcanic Reef and Deep Water.
- Battle through ten levels and defeat as many robot masters, each with a unique weapon that you can capture and use for good.
- Fight your way through expansive levels teeming with 14 enemies and numerous hazards.
With the ability to gain new weapons, it’d stand to reason you can select stages in any order. Now the major thing to wonder is if there will be any new robot masters, or all returning robot masters that have been modified for aquatic activity.
No word yet on when it’ll come out, but with Capcom cooperating on other mobile titles like 1942, Cash Cab and Where’s Waldo?, there’s a good chance we’ll get some more details at E3.
Update: According to Capcom’s press site, Mega Man Rush Marine is set to release Q3 of 2009, and the three above screenshots are concept images.

Awesome,another Original Series title.
A shooter huh? may work.
And the milking begins…
oh it began a looooong time ago
I guess this is because the name “Seaman” was already taken.
–LBD “Nytetrayn”
WTB ZX3 ._.
…. Dammit. And here I thought this was gonna be something I’d like. For Cell phones? Really? It’s that Legends 5 Islands thing all over again… Come on Capcom.
STARRING:
BUBBLE MAN
DIVE MAN
BURST MAN
AQUA MAN
SPLASH WOMAN
WATER PERSON
SCUBA MAN
OTHER AQUATIC ROBOT
At least the Rush Marine gets a real use.
Well, this was… Unexpected.
I highly doubt that this is the mystery Rockman game that the CoroCoro design contest was held for though. I think they have something else Rockman-related planned.
Meh. And how is one to control this game? I can’t help but think of the wonderful “Megaman 2″ for the iPhone. If this comes to the iPhone it will probably be the same way. Oh, and a constantly increasing number of phones are using touchscreen interfaces now. Whoops. And even for regular phones, can you imagine controller how he jumps on moves on a 12key keypad on a phone? Ouch.
Has anyone played any of the 2D megaman games for traditional 12key phones? How do they compare to the NES controls we are accustomed too?
MaJoR, it’s coming out on mobile. Most of them have directional buttons. It’ll just play like every single time Rush Marine is used in MM3.
Speaking of which, this is the first time I’ve seen Rush Marine featured in a LONG time. Good on ya, Rush!
For cell phones… I don’t have one and I wanted to play this…
This should provide mild amusement while waiting for bigger, better Megaman titles.
The fact that it’s Rush Marine may make it playable, unlike MM2′s Cell phone port, now that I think about it.
So maybe the controls won’t be so unbearable. As long as I can set which button is for shooting I’ll be okay with it.
MM2′s cell phone controls unbearable? I had it for my old RAZR and while being a bit difficult to handle, it was more than playable.
When I read Mega Man Rush Marine I immediately without thinking thought “Holy crap a new Dash game.” Since I’m tired, in class, and associated Rush and Dash too hastily. Though this does look fun…am I to assume this is for Japan phones? Or will it be available everywhere for every phone? Cause I’d nab this.
MaJoR! I’ve played MM1 and MM3 on cell phone with my old SG-T339, and it they both played great. they cropped the stages though. I’ve been wondering how they’ll do on my Virgin ARC, but I don’t have the 5 bucks to spend, but at least they’re on the list.
BTW, this is TheScyth. 0.o’
Anyone got a list of what carriers will get this?
why did’nt they just make Megaman Powered up 2?
