Q&A and Behind the Scenes of Eddie Lebron’s Mega Man
I think we missed this one while getting everything moved over to our new host here, but for those interested, Eddie Lebron, who is directing his own Mega Man fan film, recently held a Q&A session with video game blogsite Destructoid. There, he explains everything from his funding to Capcom’s reaction to the project, and from potential sequels to why the American Dr. Light seems fixated on making his robots Asian.
And as an added bonus, there’s a behind-the-scenes trailer, so you can see how he brought Mega Man to life:
The Mega Man fan film is targeting a release before Summer hits, first premiering in New York for those involved in the making, and then online a week or two after. He also hopes to include it in some fan film festivals and just to generally get the word out.

…I dunno…Something about this movie reminds me of Power Rangers… *Hides*
lol is this for real? WOW…
Hopefully this guy does better with live action anime based movies than the crappy big name companies…I mean, just look what they’ve done to all the other great animes…*shudder*
Anyways, seems promising to me actually, hope it turns out well.
He should have used that nice, big budget to fix his fu**ing teeth instead.
Oh come on Megamanner, the movie looks nice and all, I mean it’s not TERRIBLE but it’s also not that great.
Still I’d say it’s worth watching just to see how it turns out. =/
SURE, it looks nice (for a student film). But it really reminds me more of the cover art of the game than the game itself. Plus, the way the guy thinks is FAR from brilliant. He couldn’t use a 10 year old child? It wouldn’t be believable? He wanted it to be like Advent Children? None of that makes sense. This is more like “Micheal Bay’s Mega Man.”
He can go f**k himself. For die-hard fans like me, this is… HE is an insult to the series. I understand his enthusiasm in making a MegaMan movie, but in the end, it’s just crap. It’s crap on my doorstep in a flaming bag. He should really reconsider not doing those Q & A’s. He sounds JUST like the director of Iron Man; stupid.
He wants Capcom to fund his next, big brilliant project? He couldn’t write a script to save his d**k from a wood chipper. He was better off buying a wife off ebay with that big, sexy budget of his..
The issue is, Megaman isn’t exactly something you can easily translate into live action, and it’s impossible to do so well without a multi-million dollar budget.
If you want to know what a realistic Megaman would look like, just look at the T-X in Terminator 3. Just imagine that in the form of a teenager, and there you go.
Oh damn… Super Mario Bros. could have some competition as the worst video game movie ever.
You really can’t go cutesy cartoon to live action without a LOT of money and total re-imaging of the characters or you end up with people in some very goofy costumes looking very silly.
I can appreciate the hard work and effort but all that comes undone in a second flat when you have a huge, obviously fake mustache on a fiercely overacted Dr. Wily. I know what it’s like to make films on small or no-budgets, but the smart thing to do is to simply pass on it until you can get the proper funding.
They ruined the Resident Evil movies with horrible scripts, why not MegaMan? C’mon Capcom, let Screen Gems ruin MegaMan, too. lol
